Cardinal Carrera's statement and that of the Bishop's in the U.S. sound just like the Liberation Theologist's of the 1960's and 1970's. They have just transfered the Marxist philosophy across the border. Read Cardinal Ratzinger's comments about liberation theology and see if it does not apply with Carrera and other U.S. Bishop's regarding immigration.

Although Cardinal Carrera is in favor of national unity when it comes to things Mexican, he seems not to be in favor of national unity when it comes to the U. S. protecting its borders. During the 1995 rebellion in Chiapas he made a plea for national unity and worried that Mexico might run the risk of coming apart, but when the U. S. decides on the national unity that comes with the enforcement of its immigration laws, he opposes such an effort.

The Cardinal appears to be Vincente's shill.

This attitude permeates the hierarchy of the Mexican government. We don't call 'em elites for nothing.

BUMP

Liberation theology is a scourge growing in the Church from the Latin American countries, courtesy of the Marxists who permeate down there.

Not to mention the 'racist' comments coming out of Latin America after Ratzinger was elected Pope. Because it wasn't a Latin American elected, many spoke out against his heritage, and felt that he would not speak for the Latinos.

If I can dig up the thread, I'll post it.

Do either of you two remember a thread awhile back, when Ratzinger was elected Pope....it mentioned how disappointed many Latin Americans were that a Latin American Pope wasn't elected (IIRC, they felt "disenfranchised")...especially in light of Ratzinger's (Benedict XVI's) anti Liberation Theology views?

Thanks in advance.

refuse to let people cross the border for the basic human right to work

Hasn't anyone told the Cardinal that at least 14 million Mexicans have already crossed the border, that they're taking American jobs, and that only a very few have been deported? Bad choice of words by the Cardinal.

That's not the whole of Cardinal Carrera's comments about immigration. He also has criticized the United States for "xenophobic attitudes" toward Mexican immigrants, calling it inconsistent to promote international free trade but refuse to let people cross the border for the basic human right to work.

Huh? How is it that Americans aren't guaranteed a job but illegal mexicans are according to this clown? Man, I am glad I don't throw money into the plate at a Catholic church anymore.

Mexico, unfortunately can only bring us down. This is not a simbianic relationship, but a parasitic relationship. Mexico will eventually along with all the other third world partners bring down the U.S. Our enemies want only to bring the U.S. to it's knees. Having us stripped of our ability to lead the world. Instead of advancing, we are turning into simply put Welfare state paying for deadwood that would otherwise fail to exist.

""Just as the borders are open to merchandise, that is all the more reason that the borders should be open to the human being," said the Cardinal."

Comparing people to merchandise.

" 2Pe 2:3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not"
