You're right that these threats seem completely empty. But if we go after enough of the pukes, there is a chance that one might lose a primary. The key is to find a good opponent, which will be very hard but not impossible. If one puke loses his or her job over this, especially in a GOP primary, others might come to their senses in the next congress.
What we need to do is keep our dander up enough to get new Republican (not RINO) Senators in wherever we can. There must be races where the Republicans have a good chance of take over and our ire (and money) can be put to good use tipping the balance.
Also, I think two of the Democrat Senators from Alabama (I think) may not save themselves with this deal. I'd love to hear from people there who know if these seats can be taken.
And, finally, do what ever it takes to make sure that McCain NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER, EVER gets anywhere near the presidency. That has to be done primary by primary.
