Watching a rerun of the press conference of the gang of 14, did you all catch the very beginning? Sen Warner was first up on the podium, waving a piece of paper, and giggling.."I have the document right here" I was immediately reminded of Brit PM Neville Chamberlain, returning from the Munich conference, after selling out Czekoslovokia..holding a piece of of paper in his hand..and declaring "Peace in our time"
Lord Acton, once again, is proven correct...
FYI..and good night..
please correct "pape" ..it should be "paper"..my bad...
At least my fine Senator is again expressing his revererence toward the divine notion of Senatorial comity. And isn't that the most important thing? /sarc
All you needed was your headline--perfect.
Wasn't Warner married to Liz Taylor before she married Michael Jackson.
Great analogy.
Thanks..I'm turning in..maybe somebody canb post some side-by-side pics....BTW, That's my new nickname for Warner.."Neville"
FYI...regards...
FYI..regards..and g'night...
Even Arlen Spector didn't pull a stunt like this
FYI

I was SO hoping we weren't going to cave this time.
Will we ever learn, do you think?
I missed the TV news last night, so I did not see the video of Warner. I LOVE your analysis, BTW. Warner-Chamberlain, how apt. What a bunch of wussies!
Neville Chamberlain was a member of the Conservative Party as is Warner.
You know your insight here is brilliant, because the parallel works even if we aren't prepared to stoop to the Dems level of actually comparing political opponents to Nazis. Here's why: Chamberlain is the very emblem of the folly of appeasement. Politics is war by other means. In the war of politics, appeasement of an aggressive opponent is no less folly than in wars of blood and steel. The Dems can be counted on to always push the advantage and, like Hitler (remember I'm not actually comparing here), they see each retreat by their opponent as proof that aggression works. So be prepared for more of the same. The only difference is, we took a 15-yard penalty for nothing.
excellent work putting up the juxtaposed pics. Thanks
