I would think that the Generic Cashiers Check (the image of the check posted by Andy of the "checks" he gave to "John Hopkins", with no tracking numbers and no name/address of the issuing institution) would be the final proof. There's a patently fraudulent as the Dan Rather memo.
They do have routing numbers. They are in the top right corner. One of them was drawn at Verity Credit Union in Seattle (on a day he said he was in Baltimore) and the other one is from a bank THAT DOES NOT EXIST!

The checklist reference is to the Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) numbers printed along the bottom of the check. Look at the bottom of the checks in your checkbook, and you'll see what I mean.
