Pied Piper Pitt (PPP) has belated realized that the "Fundie Andy 'Terminally Ailing' Stephenson, Scammer" (FATASS) has scammed DU and other left-leaning web sites for in excess of $50k (possibly much, much more). PPP also knows that PPP's name has been tied to FATASS as a charaacter reference. PPP also now realizes that this mater will soon come to a head, and a great deal of DUmmie anger over FATASS will be lumped on PPP's head.
So, how to engage in proactive defense? Play upon the DUmmie's gullability and invent this sleeping disorder to garner sympathy from the oh-so-easily fooled DUmmies...

Fishing for sympathy is a very unbecoming trait. What kind of "man" starts an entire thread to whine about not being able to sleep? (I know, we already know the answer...)

There is a rare medical condition that destroys the sleep cycle. Unfortunately it's incurable and it makes you insane before you die.

The only thing I find surprising is that he doesn't blame his sleeplessness on some Rovian plot.

Seriously, this could be a big mistake. As someone who is a caffeine junkie, I can remember the time my wife worried I was having too much caffeine and switched to a decaf coffee without telling me. I started shaking and getting the jitters.... I finally said, "I never thought I'd say this, but maybe I should have some decaf." That when she told me she'd switched. This was very early in our relationship -- maybe even before we were married -- so it was forgivable.
But even early on in my life, caffeinated beverages would calm me down when I was jittery, as much as keep me going when I was tired. If Pitt's normal intake includes a fair amount of caffeine, "drastically" cutting back on the it could well be counter-productive.

After watching AndyScam for the last two days, what I can't get over is how self-oriented most of them seem to be. And NOTHING, not even solid indicators of blatant fraud, seems to be able to break into this willed self-deception. Amazing is all I can say.
When I had insomnia, someone recommended that I listen to white noise at bedtime, but since I don't have any John Tesh CDs, I was outta luck.
