You may remember Andy Stephenson from his primary run for Washington Secretary of State. You may also know Andy from his work on Black Box Voting and electronic voting issues. Andy has been a leading advocate for electronic voting reform, and is personally responsible for much of the attention this cause has received.
Andy has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on his pancreas, and requires surgery, which will be performed the second week of May. Because of Andy's sacrifice for the cause of electronic voting reform, he does not have health insurance and is unable to cover the costs of this surgery. Diaries :: dragon slayer's diary :: :: Trackback ::
Andy is at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, and they require $25,000 upfront to schedule this surgery. As of this writing, Beth Ferrari has negotiated with Johns Hopkins to schedule the surgery if we can provide $15,000 this Monday, May 2, and $10,000 soon thereafter. The entire surgery is slated to cost $50,000. Beth has done amazing work in negotiating with Johns Hopkins.

"Are the Skinners on DU and CU the same person? (I don't visit either site.)"
Different people. CU's Skinner is a stand up guy IMHO
the DUmp's $kimmer is a waste of space.

Nashville conference on election reform/election justice, April 8-10
I am writing to invite all Georgians to join us at a national conference on the 2004 election and the need for election reform that we are hosting in Nashville on April 8-10. We would certainly appreciate as many election reform activists as possible from Georgia attending the conference and helping promote this historic Gathering far and wide. A web-link to the conference is: www.freepress.org/conf.php
We look forward to welcoming grassroots activists from around the country for this national Gathering To Save Our Democracy. The speakers we have assembled are among the most notable in the election reform and election justice movement. The following is a partial list of speakers who have committed to come and speak --we are still working on involving Congresspeople and other prominent activists:
Bernard Ellis, Gathering To Save Our Democracy

David Lytel, Honest Elections Campaign
Clinton Curtis, Whistle-Blower
Andy Stephenson, election audit expert
Emily Levy, election fraud researcher
(and many more to come)
Thanks for digging those up. There is just some missing link here. Won't that be weird if it turns out Undie hoaxed thousands of people into believing he has cancer, without ever uttering the words himself?!
We may yet find him actually saying it, but so far it seems like he may have committed fraud by innuendo and letting others do the lying for him re cancer.
I wish some DUmmie would ask him point-blank: Do you have cancer?
Interesting, I'll Google it.
Glad you could use it. I didn't know you were in the U.K.! Get some rest.
I don't mean to harp on this point, but I think the posts by "KyndCulture" are incorrect, meaning s/he was mistaken. They contradict all the other info we have, like the seminar and DU meetup on the 7th, and the fact that he met with more DUmmies in OH on the 8th.
That's a shirt? I thought it looked more like a Mumu.
This was sent May 6th, by the way,

I think you're right. I'll take that out of the next draft.
Do go ahead and cut and paste yourself, I just picked up the baton with this from others who'd started it off. It's a work in progress as more info comes in it needs to be changed so it's as definitive as possible at the time of posting. Thanks :-)

a letter s/he sent to SKINNER on May 6th.
So the question is What did Skinner know and When did he know it !!

Dear Skinner:
Former banned DUer piping in.
It seems to me that we are witnessing probably the biggest money scam on an internet board that I have seen since George took office. Its an amazing thing to watch the Andy Stephenson machine work its wonders on decent people. People not paying their bills (to hell with good credit, says RadFem!); unemployed people emptying their piggy banks; people budgeting each paycheck accordingly.
I read DU for the LBN and follow some of the soap operas for my personal amusement. And the Bev and Andy soap operas have truly been interesting, to say the least.
But this $50K fundraiser? Astonishing.
There are so many versions of what is happening with Johns Hopkins and with Andys illness specifically. Its amazing that a guy who was in the hospital and then home-ridden from sickness in February/early March
is doing so well without any treatment that he can travel to Nashville to give seminars on election fraud. That he can deal with TV appearances. That he can stop off in Ohio to attend yet another seminar.
But lets talk about Johns Hopkins. Why? Because your board is being used to collect god knows how much money. Is it legitimate? Maybe. Maybe Andy Stephenson, who was scheduled to get the surgery in Washington (insurance or not
) in March
. really is okay to wait a couple of months more with a deathly cancer growing inside him. Maybe the issue with his pancreatitis just suddenly subsided for him to wait another couple of months....
Back to JH:
First the story was.. Andy was to have surgery on Tues, May 3rd, and they needed half the money. Okay. Feasible. And the liberal community delivered.
If you check with JH, you will find that this surgery costs about $31K. Okay, but the initial story was that the surgery was $25K, and the other $25K was for after-care. Feasible. Kind of.
First the story was
. Andy doesnt have insurance, we need half the payment now ($25K). Now the story is
the hospital didnt know he didnt have insurance
. So now we need all the money. Wait a second! If they thought Andy had insurance, insurance does not pre-pay
they give clearance
. And the hospital would not schedule a surgery without proof of payment.
Well, wait a second. Now we are told that the ingenious people who got Andy into surgery LIED to the hospital about him having insurance, and, lucky break that it was
the hospital scheduled the surgery without consulting the financial office. Whoa. Amazing turn of luck
that a doctor just didnt even check to see that he would get paid before scheduling.
Oh, about scheduling the surgery. Doctors dont schedule surgeries for people they have not tested and examined. As far as the story goes, Andy has never met with this doctor. Yet, somehow
.the doctor had his surgery scheduled for May 3rd
and now I forget what day it is scheduled for. (Amazing that there was no update from the money collectors about poor Andy having to change his surgery date from May 3rd to whatever it is now. Amazing. I mean.. there was a major charge to get the $25K to pay JK on Monday, May 2nd for the May 3rd surgery
. That money was collected
. But no update as to why Andy didnt go to JH. And wouldnt he have flown to JH from Washington over the weekend when everyone was collecting money?
Now the story is.
.. oh, the surgery was scheduled for June 2nd, but the doctor looked at Andys records and because HE IS GONNA DIE
.they moved it up. Interesting that this important persuasive fact wasnt given back when they needed the $25K overnight. Amazing. I might have even donated if a doctor said we cant wait. Oh, which reminds me, doctors dont diagnose and schedule treatments based on reading other doctors notes and records. Just a minor detail.
Oh, and there is the fact that JH has a charity department, where people send money ADDRESSED to JH in the care of X patient. Why is all the money going directly to Andy? Seems like if I had a plea for my life asking regular people for MONEY, I would from the get-go make them SECURE in the fact that the money was going directly for the costs involved for my life-saving surgery. Oh, I forgot, flyarm went out on a limb and LIED to JH.
The story just gets more and more convoluted as the days go by.
There is another issue
which is
HOW MUCH HAVE THEY COLLECTED? Youve got Malloy and Hartmann pimping for this. Will Pitt too. And of course all these people collecting pennies from their couch cushions.
I remember when this first came up on DU
and someone had the gall to ask for some sort of proof/medical record of the illness. That person got flamed into oblivion
. With the typical freeper approach: You must hate America! If we dont save Andy, America will die!!! But, Andy, good soul that he is
said he would scan some documentation and get it posted a little later today. That never happened. I looked for it. Hey, I dig the details of a soap opera. And no proof has been offered. What has been offered, however, is a constant and unrelenting stream of stories that change by the day
. With a few people really pushing the emotional buttons of people. Thats what scam artists do.
Skinner, Yeah, I was banned, But I respect you and DU and the role that it has played for the liberal community. But, dude, I think you are getting burned, big time.
I bet they have collected over $100,000....
... Hasn't Andy let 3.5 months go by without treatment????
I love the new thread by KarlRSchneider
who is insuring donations up to $20
in case people are afraid this is a scam. Hows about the money collectors just scan and post some actual JH documentation on this???? If all of this is true
they are putting all of this in writing. Sure, Andy deserves privacy, is what the mods seem to conclude on your board. Hell, no, he doesnt. God knows what is going on. Well, God and the money collectors, that is.
This is a pathetic thing to watch happen.

Pathetic...yes. Scamming people...even DUmmies for this kind of scratch does severe harm to legit fundraising efforts for people who are really sick and in need of help.
Watching the DUmp go into spin/damage control...Comedy writers couldn't write stuff THIS funny.

10. JH Has the money...
The surgery is paid for...just awaiting my date with the knife. I might add if you had been here just a couple of days ago...all doubt was dispelled in regards to my condition.
