John Kerry is back into the breach. He's engaged on multiple fronts, delivering up salty opinions and traveling the country in a self-described, "fighting mood."
Kerry promised, "I told people I was not in this for the short term. We came close. We have nothing to hang our heads about. We received 10 million more votes than Bill Clinton when he won in 1996. The fight goes on. It is as simple as that."
Joel Connelly, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer columnist and sycophant, makes the observation that a lot of people -- including dissatisfied Democrats -- believe Kerry didn't do a very good job in last fall's campaign. The Massachusetts senator was faulted, in particular, for a slow response when his fellow naval officers launched a truth campaign against his Vietnam War record.
Kerry gripes constantly now and the main focus of his bile is the man who beat him, George Bush. He describes as "a disgrace" the Bush administration's treatment of veterans returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Even though, as a member of congress, he knows it is the congress who allocates funds for veterans.
Kerry complains that the 12 million children lack any form of health insurance saying the only kids whose health has received any TV network airtime lately are former guests at Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch and little girls slain by sex predators in Florida.
Kerry continues to whine about the election saying, " Bush won the election by convincing an apprehensive country that he was the better warrior. They really scared people. They played to fear. They didn't play to hope. I think these people are extremists, it's very simple."
Kerry also blames his defeat on Osama ben Laden. He says of the Osama bin Laden tape that surfaced in the closing week of the campaign, "Our polls changed that day. It froze the election, which had been moving in our direction every single day."
When asked if he would run in 2008, Kerry responded, "Not now, too early."
In closing, Kerry said that Democrats need to take another issue to the country -- the urgent need to develop new energy sources and to wean the American motorist away from gas-guzzling automobiles.

Another Purple Heart is sure to follow, no doubt.
The fact being that Kerry is still a senator we're still gonna hear his stupid yap. When will those people in Mass. vote out the "Scream Team" of Johnny & Teddy outta the Senate?
I keep wondering when Kerry is going to get voted out myself. There are an awfully lot of people in Massachusetts outside of Boston that aren't fans of Kerry. As a matter of fact, he was booed as a starter at this year's Boston Marathon. I honestly think his (and possibly Teddy's) reelections are due the vast number of out of state and foreign students in Cambridge and Brookline. Legally registered voters, hmmmmmm?
There are 200 institutions of "higher learning", with a student population in excess of 300,000, in metropolitan Boston and you are correct in your assumption that many vote democratic.
Then there are the little old Irish ladies that all still have a picture of JFK in the living room.
