The sad part is - you are RIGHT! They don't need anything, including a green card. They have carte blanche...

There are four states (or as I like to call them the four horsemen of Apocalypse) that I will never live in:
California
New York
Massachusetts
Florida

The problem with your pithy comment is that you are allowing the media to brainwash you into how you think about these areas.
I've lived all over California (and in Washington). I have never met an actor, a person who reads Variety, a surfer, or people with purple hair. Most of the "strange" people I've seen in California were located in or around Venice Beach -- pretty much the mecca of weirdness on the west coast. Outside of that, pretty much most people are pretty dog-on normal who work 9 to 5 jobs, drink coffee in the morn, beer in the evening, and get a good chuckle out of "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour" and are chagrined with how poorly SNL has changed over the years.
By and large people are the same where ever you go. Be it Houston, TX, Los Angles, CA, NY, NY, or Normal, IL.

Hey! What's everybody laughing at? Aren't all the states' driving tests like this?
To: Maynard G. Krebbs
NO, in Kansas the test has such questions as "Who has the right-of-way?" Of course, the answer is "The vehicle with the biggest tires."

This test is clearly biased. Why does it not ask if I have had lipsuction?
