Over the last week, a lot of Satellite stuff was buggered in my neck of the woods (TV, Internet, some Radio). Perhaps a solar storm?

Yesterday there was a change in servers.....they must be having an unexpected problem. There is a backup site that the owner has been keeping us posted at

Sorry about the outage at Free Dominion. We are in the process of moving the site back to an American server, but of course things went wrong.
It looks like we are down for the night now. The DNS has resolved but we are still having trouble transferring the site to the new location.

Sounds like your new host didn't make your "data" folder accessible/writable... ;)

Hey, sit-rep, long time no see!
The problem is with the old server. For some reason the database won't copy. I've put both server operators in direct contact so they should be able to work it out early tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the update....patience is a virtue as they say.
better now than during an election.

Our database has been accumulating for almost five years now, so it is getting big. We are still using SLQ, but we are just about at its limit.
To: Entropy Squared
Wow...
Good seeing you again. I'll swing in there from time to time. Take care...

John Galt as in the banned John Galt? Yep, the same one. I see he used this thread to spam for a website that has been set up for people we had to ban from FD.
To: Entropy Squared
I see that he has been swatted again.
Excellent!

Whatever he is, John Galt was an apologist for terrorists and Saddam during his tenure here on FR.
He loved to make a statement on a subject, and then move teh goal posts.
He stated that Iraq had absolutely no WMD's, and when some were found he insisted that only nukes were WMD's.
I'm not familiar with nohippos.com, so I do not know.
But here Galt was a troll.
