Investigative reporter and Boing Boing pal Mark Ebner spent last week embedded with the "Minutemen" in and around Tombstone, Arizona. For those unfamiliar with US/Mexico border politics, these are the volunteer border patrol militias comprised of heavily armed, grumpy-looking white people who have self-organized to stem the flood of wannabe janitors, dishwashers, and nannies who threaten our national security. Ebner's report will appear in Globe magazine next week, available at your grocery check-out stand. Meanwhile, enjoy the new face of Homeland Security!

Mark Ebner's site is: http://www.hollywoodinterrupted.com/
Globe Magazine is apparently a tabloid: http://www.globemagazine.com/
And, note that if you look closely you'll see that the poster is not from the Minuteman Project. The real group that put it up is hard to identify. It could even be an attempt to smear the MMP.
You can contact BoingBoing's other blogger, Cory Doctorow, at doctorow at craphound dot com.

This is clearly anti-MM. In the Spanish section, she describes them as "racist" and says it really bothers her. She sees no difference between the MM and lynch mobs. Violation of civil rights, blah, blah, blah.

Civil rights of whom? Illegal aliens?
Does our Constitution bestow any rights to illegals?

Can you write down a translation of the Spanish for those of us who are single-language simpletons?

Doesn't the Minuteman on the right look very much like Tom Brokaw? (click on image to zoom)

I can offer you a word for word translation but I can tell you that it says something like "here are some pictures of the racist assholes in Arizona" and that they are similar to "lynch mobs". That should give you the flavor.

I don't really speak Spanish. I speak French fluently, which means I can sorta-kindof read Spanish. So here goes:
And from our respected Spanish-speaking teachers: This is a presentation of photos of the pendejos (can't translate directly, but I believe it is a not-nice word) racists in Arizona who think they are soldiers. This activity bothers me terribly. I don't see any difference between these guys and the "lynch mobs" of the early 20th century South.
I am foggy on the next part, but I believe she says that she hopes no blood will be shed, but the MM seem to be aligned with the government and political temperament of the present. She doesn't think this bodes well for civil rights of the illegals.
Hope that helps...someone with better Spanish could give a closer translation

"I can offer you..." should have been "I cannot offer you".

Google translation:
And for ours dear hispanohablantes readers: here I present/display imagenes to them of the racist assholes in Arizona that are created soldiers. The phenomenon worries to me much. I do not see any difference between this and "lynch mobs" of long ago in the south of my country. Hopefully that the result is not so bloody, but if they then have the support of the government and the political atmosphere of the moment --, I do not believe that it would be a good thing for the civil rights of people in any side of the border. Thanks to Mark Ebner, journalist and friend of Boing Boing, by the photos. Its news article will be published in the Globe the next week.
No comment on the author, and the fact that his head is obviously wedged firmly up his ass.

You did also notice the spanish is basically saying the minutemen are no better than a modern day lynch mob?
the spanish portion has no place on FR.

And for ours reckoned Spanish-speaking readers: here I present them some images of the racist idiots in Arizona that soldiers are believed. The phenomenon worries me a lot. I do not see any difference between this and the "lynch mobs" of long ago in the south of my country. MYSELF hope that the result be not so bloody, but if they have the support of the government and of the political environment of the moment -- therefore, do not I believe that would be a good thing for the civil law of the people in any side of the border..

I am of Mexican and Mescalero Apache ancestry and BOTH Spanish and English are my first lanuguage.
Translation: And for our Spanish speaking readers, I present you some images of the racist dumbasses who believe themselves soldiers. This phenomenon really troubles me. I see no difference between this and the "lynch mobs" of yesteryear in the Southern part of my country. Hopefully the outcome won't be as bloody, but if they have the support of the Government and the current political climate, it does not bode well for the civil rights of people on either side of the border.
Is this a load or what?

As you can see, I don't entirely agree with Ms. Jardin's report:
http://lonewacko.com/blog/archives/003002.html
The Spanish is included because it's part of the linked article.
Despite having been moved to Bloggers & Personal, those few reading this can still contact the Globe and suggest that they might want to concentrate on the truth rather than false juxtapositions such as that one in the linked article.

your points are valid, this is not the first time I have seen some one playing the "language game" to "fool" with the americans.
To: lonewacko_dot_com
So much for stopping the flow when they release a million illegals onto the streets.
