"The bill's sponsor, Baltimore County Delegate Emmett Burns Jr., D-District 10, believes race played a role in the resistance.

"He's African-American and a great man, and they have a problem with that. Need I say more?" Burns said."

I am against changing the name of BWI at this time because the last time I looked Maryland was not that well off financially. It is projected that the name change is anticipated to cost the state around $2,000,000 to change signs etc... Personally I don’t care if the name is changed or what it is changed to, however do it when the state has the money to burn, but not now. I don’t want the state to spend my tax money on nice things when other things need my money more, for example, funding teachers (not the boards), police and emergency funding, roads and infrastructure, teaching teens how to drive.

The other sad thing is, here is an example of a leader that cries racism, I think Delegate Burns should say more, like an apology. I understand that racism exists, however, sometimes decisions are based off of money and not the color of a persons skin.

"Thurgood Marshall Baltimore-Washington International Airport"

Would that make it the longest airport name in the world? Those would need to be some mighty big signs.

This is a big surprise? God forbid you should "resist" using a black person's name on your structure.

Some of object cuz he's another Commie race-monger not worthy of worship.

Why can't we use the names of some real men who did real work w/o the tinge of communism? Plenty of better black men around here from our past before the poison of FDR's socialism spread thru.

Actually I heard his name would be tacked on the end of the whole thing?

BWI was a great airport; now they're constantly screwing it up (at least outside) and making it as hard to figure out as O'Hare or Logan. Making the name more long-winded and impossible to remember or fit in any sign sort of matches the whole increasing complexity of the place.

The San Jose (California) International Airport was recently changed to the Norman Mineta International Airport.

We have all the same arguments (no $$$, etc. ) and to make matters worse, Norm Mineta? A do nothing, America hating fool.

I could vomit.
Yuck!

It's just more of the same, old school Maryland politics. In some districts of this state a Democrat could come out and say anything and they know they won't lose points.

Since Delegate Burns is such a righteous dude, I wonder where he was when they were pitching Oreo cookies at Lt. Governor Michael Steele during the election.

"pitching Oreo cookies at Lt. Governor Michael Steele during the election"

Ah, yes, wasn't that nice?

And we KNOW there's no chance in @$%@% Steele would ever have anything named after HIM in MD. Not as long as it's in the grips of commies.

I been listening to the Lt. Governor for about 8 years - first heard him on WCBM - and I'm certain he didn't mind taking the Oreos for team Ehrlich.

He demures when asked about it because he has too much class to make the behavior of a couple idiots into an issue.
