"Conservative judges will be confirmed"? I don't believe it. This will just fuel the fire for more liberals.

Just called the Governor Jeb Bush's office and asked that he use his executive powers NOW to save Terri.
Here's the number:
850-488-4441
Keep trying if it's busy.
This may be her last chance.

But heck, who cares about the rule of law? I've seen some calling for the Armed Forces, armed revolt, and basically everything else imaginable on this case. This might be a good time to reiterate something stated on the FR homepage:
"Free Republic does not advocate violence, rebellion, secession, or an overthrow of the government."

I do believe Jeb could appoint a special prosecutor to take over the case. The tube would be put back in and those who would kill her would be prosecuted. With Felos and M Schiavo at the top of the list for conspiracy to murder.

A helpless woman is struggling for her life.
You're the only one who can save her.
Do you: a. Tread water;
b. Abandon her;
c. Try not to be seen breaking the law;
d. See if you can put the responsibility on someone else;
e. Go to mass on Sunday---looking wounded, grief-stricken and upright.

Wrong analogy. In that case, the troops were there to support a court order. The court order in this case supports Michael Schiavo's argument. Therefore, the troops would be supporting Michael Schiavo.

and arrest anyone who would interfere Arrest those who are complying with the state and federal courts? I don't think so. There would be no grounds, no charge. However, there would be numerous felonies involved in ignoring these courts. Those guarding Terri could legally use lethal force against anyone entering the hospice with the intent of violating the court order(s).
Congress unwittingly sealed this one in stone. When despite iffy constiutional authority, congress remanded this to the federal courts, only to have the federal courts agree not with congress, but the state courts, it was over.

Why do you think they gave the executive branch police power? To avoid Judicial tryanny. The way to avoid judicial tyranny is to impeach judges who overstep their constitutional authority. Ultimately, the fault is on the electorate, which fails to elect a Congress willing to do this. We get the kind of government we want, or that we settle for.

<< Does anyone know if President Bush could issue an Executive Order to save Terri? >>
Of course he may.
Of course he can.
Maybe that's all that's left to do?
Surely this murder-by-"husband's"-judicial-surrogate must not proceed.

Jeb Bush may have the authority but he would be risking his governorship, as I believe the Dems in the Florida legislature would have him impeached. If he did get impeached the voters will put him back in office and vote the other out. You can take that to the bank.

Well, you have a point about Michael Schiavo. However, calling fellow Freeper's "Members of a death cult" or "simple minded twits who want to ignore the law" is not helpful for either side.I agree. Besides which, I think ad hominems don't do much to convince anyone of anything. But I'm just fine with showing some emotion, some anger, some disgust, some love. As long as it's channelled in a constructive and healthy fashion, emotion can and should be put to good use. It can be a heck of a motivator.

The same Moral authority that was used to save the Iraqi people from insane Hussein. The same Moral authority they used to send food and water to the Tsunami victims. "Moral authority" does not authorize executive action. Legislation enabling the action does.

Unfortunately, Judge Greer's decisions were following Florida state laws. His decision was reviewed by more than a few courts and now even reviewed unconstitutionally by a federal court. It may not follow what we believe to be moral law but it is still the rule of law. Not an opinion, but the rule of law. The order was not unconstitutional and the numerous appeals courts have found that to be the case.
I realize many may disagree with the courts' decisions but you can't just call out the troops when you disagree and start arresting people.

The troops were sent in to Little Rock to uphold orders from the courts. This case would be troops sent in to violate the orders from the courts. Completely OPPOSITE situation.

Actually if we hit the streets like they did in Lebanon we could rescue her.
Yes. If 1,000 people marched into that hospice, the sheriffs deputies would stand-down. Of this, I have no doubt.

We cannot live for decades on end without a President or Congress. We get the kind of President and Congress that we elect. If you don't like them, then elect different people.

But this isn't a game. It's about life and death, and that's why it's so emotionally charged.
We are reenacting 1930s Germany; it's not reasonable to expect people to remain completely calm.

It is truly frightening. I have goosebumps. Mob rule, throw out the rule of law. Take your little cowardly behind elsewhere. You ought to be frightened what will happen in our nation if she dies. She is not just a single person. She represents all the weak of our society. Yes, there are many more like her, but in God's Providence, she is their representative. He is watching and He is not silent.
Popular uprisings or Shows of Force by Governments are not inherently evil or dangerous. In the Ukraine and in Lebanon these are being used for good.
