How do marches like these become necessary?

Ever feel like the earth has suddenly been invaded by aliens, not from another planet, but from an alternate parallel universe?: A bizarre and scary world where death is more precious than life, and where it is normal for people and elected officials to march down their streets and pound their fists, demanding rights to slay their children and other loved ones on demand. Of course, many other absurd things are held in high esteem by these invaders, but this extreme pretty much eliminates all other theories that they are merely from another country or from another planet.

If the students didn't protest in Tienanmen Square, would the world know about it? You may argue the point, being that the world is aware of Terri's case, but this kind of attention expresses a sense of urgency.

The only ones that marched in Germany were the soldiers, as you'll recall. I remember listening to German citizens who said that they had no idea the extermination of jews were taking place in their own back yard.
