The "death knell" is for sites such as this "moderator's" who attempt to raise their popularity by attacking competitors for their success.
The internet is NOT subject to any governmental "enforcement" of the putative "freedom of speech". The various blogs and "news" sites are PRIVATELY owned and no "owner" can be forced to accept the unwelcome words or commentary of another. To lead that inference, as the article attempts to do, is hypocritical in the extreme! That is even more apparent, when I noticed the article because I had been banned from posting on that site (sierratimes) in disagreement with their inference that armed revolution is what you should do with unlimeited funds. . .
Of course, now I am banned again, since I "signed-up" to post on the site under the title "Abannedposter" to highlight their hypocrisy. And, naturally, I was banned again and *threatened* with retaliation if I continued. . .something about the (scary) "Spam Commission" and hints/threats of "federal" felony this-and-that.
I must laugh-out-loud because this site literally *hates* Homeland Security and the Patriot Act, but will NOT hesitate to use it as a threat against an individual who notices what a bunch of two-faced individuals they are, indeed.

but I ceased posting when Freerepublic.com founder Jim Robinson first began censoring and banning members for any criticism of George Bush.Well, I suppose my posting history is proof that Henrietta Bowman doesn't know what she's talking about.
Of course, my formula for longevity has two major ingredients:
- As a true conservative, I only express my legitimate issue-based grieviences with tha Bush Administration. I do NOT stoop to utilizing the fabricated slander that is concocted by the left-wing whacknuts.
- I also do NOT hold JimRob responsible for the opinions expressed by others on this forum. Nor do I utilize his forum to launch personal attacks against him. It's JimRob's forum and JimRob's rules. He has the absolute right to ban anybody he wants for any reason he wants. As his guest, I have no problem with that whatsoever. It makes no sense to whine and pee on the carpet. If he were running for office, or was a political appointee, it might be different. But when it comes down to it, he's just a guy who lives in Fresno who operates a website.
Good grief, whiners like Henrietta Bowman need to get a new life.
To: tadowe
this just isn't true. I have offered some generally positive posts on the guest worker bill, and was lucky to escape with my life. that's not a complaint, by any means, but it happened.
I would hazard to guess that the huge majority of freepers are adamant in their opposition to the guest worker proposal.

I get tired of people jumping to conclusions without reading what someone's comments are. Newbies are threatened to be zotted before they even get a chance on FR.
IF anyone REALLY READ your post they would KNOW there was NOTHING wrong with what you said. Don't worry about it.

You think bashing our great President, President George W. Bush will get you in trouble? Try agreeing with him that all muslims are not blood thirsty animals and see where THAT gets you!!

She's a loon. There's plenty of criticism of Bush on this site. Just look at any thread on illegal immigration. You'll see no end of comments on Bush's anemic response to the problem. Bush bashing for its own sake, on the other hand, quite correctly gets the ZOT.

Go back to LP and/or FU,you stinking troll.
FR is not dead,it isn't dying, and you third party lunatics caviling over being banned here, would cut off both legs, pull out all of your remaining teeth, and slice off one arm to be allowed back here. That should tell you how "dead" or "dying" FR is.
And as to Mods and bannings, LP and all other sites suspend and ban members too. Forums are private property.
To: tadowe
A silly article. The only way something as seriesly addictive as FR is going to hear a "death knell" is when it becomes illegal. Yeah, we all get mad here sometimes, but most of us can't keep away to save our souls.
Besides, which, FR is a wonderful forum. And with great cameraderie, friendships, not to mention the real good that it does.

You have not been banned so it's not as if you are being prevented from participating in FR. There's no death knell for FR btw. I don't even think there's a death knell for democraticunderground either.

I honestly can't figure what these people's problem is. I see plenty of Bush criticism here. What these people really want, and what FR will never give them, is an opportunity to bash the President without any "back sass" from other Freepers.

Ya got cajones, kid.
Personally, I would have waited awhile (maybe 3 or 4 years [/sarcasm]) before posting something inflamatory about a site I was a new member of.
But thats just me.
Best.

I owe you an apology for not reading your post carefully the first time around.
You are correct about the site you are talking about.
I am really sorry,
Welcome to FR,and I hope you will stick around.

There are certain sites that people are not supposed to post from. Could add sierratimes to the list?

Once again, the author makes the claim that people who criticize GWB are banned.
I criticize him quite often. I do not agree 100% of the time with him and I say so. I do think he is the best president available to us today.
I'm still here
