Respect, not love, is the key to peace. Holocaust survivor Jack Adler shared his story and message about respect with a standing-room-only audience at the University of Wyoming College of Agriculture Auditorium on Wednesday.
We live in the greatest nation in the world, represented by every race, ethnicity and religious group, and its a diversity that we should be very proud of. Its a diversity that built and continues to build this great nation of ours. However we also have in our society hate groups who are ready and willing to tear this great nation apart, Adler said.
Adler used his survival story as a backdrop to illustrate some of the historical causes of anti-Semitism, the historic and future impact that hate had and can have and to demonstrate that common, decent people can be part of a system of hate and discrimination.

>>The latent anti-Semitism in America prevented the United States from bombing the crematorium or railroad at Auschwitz, Adler said
If they would have bombed just the railroad tracks, over 1 million innocent lives would have been saved. As you can see, there is enough blame to go around, Adler said.<<

What an ass! Bomb the railroad tracks. Right. From 25,000 feet with a dumb bomb from a B-17 or a B-24. And then hit a target 4.5 feet wide.
First, this wasn't "RACISM!!" it was TECHNOLOGY. The smart bombs this guy is looking for were not deployed in Europe. The handful the USA had made during the war were deployed in destroying the Burma-Thailand Railroad.
Second, most GERMANS didn't know the Holocaust was going on so little intel was gleaned by spies. And even when solid proof made its way to the West no one believed it before the end of the war. No one believed that this could really happen. Eisenhower thought Patton was grossly exaggerating when Patton first told Ike about one of the camps. When Ike saw it for himself his reaction was nothing less than rage. A rage that cost 250,000 Germans their lives after the war.
But I guess Adler ran out of Nazis to blame for the Holocaust so now he wants to blame the 'latent racism' of the United States that sacrificed four million dead fighting fascism.
I'm sick of morons attacking the one country that they always expect to defend civilization. The USA.
I'm sorry for what happened to Adler, but America had nothing to do with it.
The foundation of the government of the United States of America, is the principle of limited government, written into our Constitution by the democratic-repulbican process of duly elected representatives, elected by the people, from among the people, and the people being sovereign, bear down upon the government, peacefully, through such representatives sitting in legislative bodies ... whence came, said Constitution, that is but a list, what we call an enumeration, of the powers of government that are delegated to the government, by the people.
On the principle that, when the government fails to adhere to the wishes of the people, they can and may render the government changed, as they see fit.
That result, day in and day out, requires cooperation among Americans who are from among a multitude of cultures, the combination of which, we refer to as American Culture.
That, in turn, has as a wonderful characteristic, a common interest in reverence to God and love of God and thanks to God for the blessings of all such liberty, that we are not under unlimited government, but, that, in contrast to tyrannical states, we have a limited government under us, and limited by us, and by God that is the way it should be, and it will continue to be.
Whereas in dark corners of the planet, politicians, however you may name or label them, plot to raise themselves up, and consume and usurp government power to the point of setting themselves and their regimes over and above people ... and even, they claim, above God.
On such occasions, there has been warfare and immense bloodshed.
There will always be such lunges for power over people, and there will always be war.
The solution that people want, they cannot arrive at: "world peace;" but we can "keep things to a dull roar."
That, means keep a lid on government power.
In a society, you may find two groups that do not like each other; and they may spread quite a lot of trouble; but you can maintain the peace, by ensuring that govenment remains in the hands of the people, instead of in the hands of a political class.
Because to make government over people, and to subjigate people, the political class seeks to instill fear, and enough fear, to make people afraid to stand up and do the right thing, that is, follow their moral foundations that are God's gift.
What George Washington referred to, as observing, despite setbacks, the "straight line."
If you want to make "anti-Semitism" the "boogey man" in Germany, 1931-1945, who can stop you; but if you want to give that the "credit" for mass murder, you are ignoring the monstrosity of unlimited government and its requirement that there be nobody and no God other than, the politicians, as the authorities.
Life might be difficult, and people might hate you, but police state power kills.
Which fact of death is seemingly hopelessly lost on leftist, socialists bent on blaming the boogey man.
The political correctness enforced by the NAZI police state, such that a German faced threat of death, when coming to the aid of a Semite, Jewish or not, is your culprit.
Police powers run amok, at the behest of politicians unafraid, but instead, "preaching" that you and I should be afraid, and millions were.
Now, after the fact, come generations who make almost no effort at understanding how terrible it was, for Germans of good heart, who did stand up, and they were slaughtered for trying to do the right thing, for living according to God in their hearts and minds.
While still, so many more feared to do anything.
Why?
Because they were afraid of the POLICE STATE.
I might add that his crap is an insult to the countless American and Allied Jews who died fighting Naziism during the war.
He pisses on their sacrifice with this crap.
"Blaming Jews"
I do not blame Jews for the death of Jesus nor do I blame Jews for Adler having his head up his...
The man is a liberal schlemiel.
Book makes some very interesting points, but - germane to this thread - suggests that FDR wasn't determined to stop the Holocaust because he was already in hot water over our entry into WWII.
FDR did a lot to get the US into war with Germany, including harassing U-boats while we were not at war with Germany, and he tried to get opponents of American participation in WWII voted out of office after Pearl Harbor - the trouble being, before Pearl Harbor 80% of Americans opposed entry into WWII. So if your congressman agreed with you before Pearl Harbor, and if he agreed with you after Pearl Harbor, why would you want to vote against him? You didn't.
So FDR, according to Flemming, was afraid that if he made a big deal about the treatment of Jews there would be a backlash of "So that's why he was so eager to get us into WWII! Jews!"
With one thing and another, it is really quite a thought-provoking book.
FDR sided with the British, true enough. And then the Germans started attacking US merchant ships and US Naval ships as early as the summer of 1940.
And when Pearl Harbor came along FDR still did not get us into war with Germany, Hitler did. Hitler decalred war on the USA even thought the Axis Treaty did not require him to assist Japan.
It was Hiter's choice to have a low level conflict with the USA blow up into a major war. He did so against the advise of almost all of his leaders and advisers. Had Hitler remained silent about the USA then Japan would've faced the full fury of the US military and Germany would have stood a chance against Britain and the USSR.
The last sixty years may have been a different world had Hitler not taken on the USA.
But it was Hitler who started the war with the USA. FDR might've pissed off a tyrant, but the tyrant started the war.
The whole issue of racism at that time is irrelevant. It was the way things were back then. Things have changed and for the better.
Still, no one could've imagined the horrors unleashed by Hitler against the Jews and many people at the time found the scope of the atrocity unbelievable. It really was not until the 1970's and another generation before the world really started to take a serious look at the Holocaust. And now the pendulum has swung to where it is a CRIME in all western nations except the USA to state your doubts about aspects of the Holocaust.
You need to read historical texts of the time to get a grasp of the context in which events were viewed back then. It is patently illogical to measure the events of the 1940's by the cultural values of the 21st century.
And I still go back to the fact that intelligence (spying) was not trusted in the USA as it was in Britain and elsewhere. When intel showed up about the Holocaust it was judged to be rumor and not fact. Dean Acheson once commented that George C. Marshall thought the Holocaust might be a diversion as the Germans had seen how sensitive the Americans were to Japanese atrocities.
While we're at it. Let's address the 'genocide' in the Balkans that Clinton used to have the USA attack Yugoslavia. With modern satellite surveillance and "trusted" sources of intelligence they still got it wrong. The whole thing was a lie.
Now imagine yourself a military leader of 1940 when telephone service was spotty at best and you get a report of a huge death camp. You can use the resources you have to attack known targets or you can dedicate your valuable resources and the lives of your soldiers and airmen to chasing something that may be a diversion.
If I were FDR or Marshall in the 1940's with the intel they had at hand >> I would have done NOTHING different <<.
Because they won the war, didn't they?
Instead of whining about what *might* have happened how about we talk about what DID happen?
Because Hitler was defeated by the Allies there were fifteen million Jews who DID NOT get killed in the Holocaust.
I'm sorry for the people who got killed, but to assail the country that sacrificed four million dead to defeat fascism PISSES me off.
Had Hitler not been defeated there wouldn't be an Israel.
I'm no FDR lover, but the man deserves a Thank You instead of some moron peeing on his memory.
