As I see it Sharon may be playing a little rope a dope with the Philistinians. Their response to his gestures may give justification for stomping on them like a roach.

I often think of Palestinians as 1930's Germans. Most didn't like Jews, but they weren't ready to march them into crematoriums either. There was enough resentment to do just that when a small group of ideologues(Nazis) took control of power. Hamas, Al-Aqsa etc. have the power, right now. I think the plan is to dis-empower them and hope the will of the average Palestinian(who values the welfare of their family more than abstract hatred of Israel) rules the direction of Palestine.

If the Palis intend to destroy Israel they will have to do so in minutes.

Otherwise most capitals of the Arab world would become a radioactive wasteland.
