The tapes are revealing also in that they seem to prove once and for all that Bush never used cocaine

I was in the bookstore yesterday and I picked up Wead's new book and sat down and read the chapters on the Bush family. Not only did this guy secretly tape the president, Wead states in the book that he believes Bush DID take cocaine! I couldn't believe it!! This guy is a class a jerk. He also surmises that all the Bush men have a love/hate relationship with their fathers dating back to the 1800's. That Bush is punishing his father for not telling him his sister was dying and other assorted psycho-babble. It's just a trashy book.

I'm a little confused -- where is the hue and cry from the Left about secretly taping a "friend?" Didn't they smear Linda Tripp a few years back when she taped phone conversations with Monica Lewinsky? I remember the insults that were heaped upon her, the slurs, and the MSM jumped right on board. So, again - where is their indignation at this friend of Bush's secretly taping him. Not to mention said "friend's" belief that Bush used cocaine without offering any proof - ah, the Maurice Hinchey school of evidence.

The hypocrisy makes my head spin so bad I'd give Linda Blair a run for her money.

"I did some things when I was young that were immature," he told Wead. "The difference between me and the president [is] I've learned. I am prepared to accept the responsibility of this office."

A remark that deserves to be publicized. Bush got into minor trouble when he was young. He grew up, matured, and repented. A few great men were virtuous from childhood, but just as many sowed wild oats before maturing, including some of the saints. Saint Augustine is an obvious example. Henry V of England is a famous secular instance.

I doubt whether Bush took cocaine. Clinton was a cokehead while he was in the White House. Curious that the press never were concerned about that.

Drugs were a significant issue with clinton. He not only took them in large quantities most of his life, he consorted with drug dealers even in the White House, and he profited from drug dealing. Drugs are not an issue with Bush, except for a monomaniacal press.
