I notice that Pied Piper Pitt's book was published by Pluto Press, a leftwing publisher. Perhaps I should bypass the literary agent routine for now and go DIRECTLY to the publishers. I know that Regnery is somewhat conservative but are there other conservative publishers I could contact? One problem might be that some of my comix stories would be somewhat risque (R rating but NOT X-rated stuff). However, whatever small conservative publishing company publishes the DUmmie FUnnies book (with CD-ROM insert for the comix) would have a HUGE seller on their hands. So if you know of such publishers (and who won't give me grief about the comix) then pass the info along. Oh, and PLEASE, NO vanity publishers.
Aw jeez, you'd have to be from Pluto to believe this crap.
I'll go do a search & see if I can locate the thread I saw after I get out of work tonight (unless someone else can find it first)
Get yourself a 2005 Writers Market, find a publisher that publishes DUFU type books and publishes first time authors, and send in a book proposal. You don't need an agent.
You can always self publish too. With all the copies you'd sell on FR you'd hit the magic number of sales quick and the self publishing Co. you use would start kicking in advertising. It can't hurt anything to send in book proposals though. Get a book on manuscript formats, etc. and put one together. It's much easier to get published now. I'll be looking forward to buying a DUFU book.
