Everything was clearly stated in their enlistment papers when they signed on the dotted line. Back in 1977 when I joined the Air Force I was told that even though I was enlisting for 4 years, I was obligated to Uncle Sam for 6. So there was a period of two year where I was on inactive reserve (no monthly meetings, no paycheck) and could have been called back to active duty in case of a national emergency.

Guess what? We have a national emergency.
