Can I keep using netscape for e-mail and use the firefox for 'surfing'?

Short answer yes.

Currently there is not a facility to send pages found with the Firefox browser , although there is some talk that that will be changed in the next release, that would probably require Thunderbird, which is the Mail program.

Given enough memory and horsepower you might be able to have both your current browser and the firefox browser running. So if you found a webpage you wanted to fold into an E-Mail you could do a quick cut and paste of the URL and retrieve it under Netscape and then E-Mail as you do currently. Firefox is built on the Mozilla browser which was built on Netscape.

Thanks for all your help Ernest. I found the firefox website where I can download the program for free. They also have new versions of the plug-ins Adobe and Java script. I'll let you know how it works out...
