Almost a month ago, Chechen rebels sent an open letter to the European Parliament complaining that Russians/pro Russian Chechens have kidnapped Maskhadov's relatives:
Last week, Russian special services and criminal gangs, supported by the Kremlin and led by the notorious Chechen Kvisling, Kadyrov the younger, took as hostage in Grozny and other cities and villages the family of the President of the Chechen Republic Aslan Maskhadov. Among them are his brothers Lechi Maskhadov, 76 years old, Lyema Maskhadov, 68 years old, his sister Dzhovzhan Abdu1kadyrova (Maskhadova), 69 years old, and also two cousins: Adam Reshiev, 60 years old, and lkhvan Magomadov, 63 years old . Besides, during the last weeks the hostage-taking of women, elderly and children reached a massive character. This happened after the declaration of the prosecutor-general Ustinov on "The collective responsibility of "terrorists"".
Given the Basayev, Barayev, Galayev, etc., history of kidnapping (and dismembering, beheading, torturing) it takes serious chutzpah to decry when similar tactics are now being used against them.
Today, the official mouthpiece of the Chechen terrorists has published a press release stating that Maskhadov has signed an order, on January 14th, 2005, to halt all offensive actions against Russians and the pro Russian Chechen administration. The order is only effective for the month of February and is said to be a display of "good faith" by the terrorists.
There's an undeniable link between the kidnapping of Maskhadov's family and a sudden display of "good faith" by the Chechen terrorist leader two weeks later. Looks like the new Russian tactic has paid off.
[ Basayev left, Maskhadov right ]
Where is the hue and cry from the saintly left regarding these abuses of the geneva convention?
>> The order is only effective for the month of February and is said to be a display of "good faith" by the terrorists. <<
Tactical surrender/pause? We all know how mohammad (pork be upon him) would 'surrender' when on the ropes.
What do you folks think?
Note that this order was unconditional.
As the Clinton administration helped the Chechen Muslim terrorists, the Albanian Muslims "KLA", and the Bosnian Muslims, we reflect in amazement, and thank god for Bush. Does any one remember bombing the city of Belgrade on Easter Sunday?
>> Does any one remember bombing the city of Belgrade on Easter Sunday? <<
I remember that. A sad day in American history.
Terrorists do not know the meaning of 'good faith' - this development would seem to prove Putin knows what he's doing. I have always been inclined to view any criticism of Russian anti-terror actions as nothing but propaganda from the Left.
Did you ever hear any one in our media say it was a sad day in American history? Even now, we are still keeping our military in Bosnia and Kosovo to protect the Muslims! Our advisors keep telling us a bunch of lies like if we protected the Muslims, then Saudi Arabia, and Iran are going to love us. I think our politicians must be naive to believe this crap.
Where the hell do people come up with this Geneva Conventions crap. The Geneva Conventions cover uniformed POWs not a bunch of jihadi partisan punks.
It's all unconditional bacon, but Mo needs to be given the sausage.
btw the story is also on bbc. so hopefully its true

good news are always welcome heh
(the ceasfire heh not the cause of course is on the bbc. but yes the kidnapping of family members of terrorists has worked)
I remember that. A sad day in American history.
Why? We didn't bomb on Ramadon, just on the holiest day of those worthless Christians. /sarcasm
The West has become fat and stupid on it's own hubris and attacks anyone who knows what they're doing, because they see it as undermining the collective fantasy. Problem is, the Islamics never intended to uphold that fantasy in the first place.
Just like the Israeli tactic of bulldozing family houses of suiciders has cut down on islamic mommies telling their darlings to blow themselves up so the family can get the death benefits.
Either naive or "influenced" by the $50 million + that the Saudis throw around every year. Just like the reason that neither party will close the border, the money from the special interests is more valuable then American lives.
Geneva conventions don't apply to internal civil wars. They govern behavior between nations at war.
No let up. Kill them even in the outhouse.
Mochit' v sortire!
What fantasy?
The fantasy that you can treat the Islamic fanatics like human beings, that you'll change their view, reform them and that when they sign the pledge not to shoot you when they're freed they'll actually stick to it.
