An athelete would be more concise: Muscle Memory.

But then, that would obviate the need for a 500 word essay.

Neuroeconomics, the study of neurophysiological processes underlying choices and decisions, addresses this issue more generally. Scientists, using techniques such as brain imaging, are trying to understand how the brain makes pre-cognitive valuations.

right about here:

For this reason, people who have experienced a critical incident involving deadly force are often unable to describe the exact, step-by-step process by which they defended themselves.

If a cop can't detail step-by-step; LeRoi's mama's lawyer will make him/her out to be a "killin' machine".

Good habits are hard to break

"Practise makes Perfect"

The main problem I have is learning/teaching the PROPER [ie. 'good' ] habits, techniques to myself and wife.

The time required alone can get prohibitive, not to mention the $$$ involved and BAD habits of poor training.

Plain ol range time and visualization are my key tools at this point, but Im interested in something a little more in depth for both of us, something that brings a more 'stress related' impact to the practice. 'BB wars' and paintball dont really cover the dark parking lot scenarios and the sudden adrenaline rush.

Any other suggestions for us until the time & money allow for an expensive an detailed traing program???
