Well I do imagine that China could fit 1.2 billion mice in their space a lot easier than 1.2 billion people. Then, if they get uppity with Taiwan again, we can send in our new secret weapon: house cats.

NGN reports that creating human-animal chimerasnamed after a monster in Greek mythology that had a lion's head, goat's body, and serpent's tail has raised troubling questions: What new subhuman combination should be produced and for what purpose? At what point would it be considered human? And what rights, if any, should it have? I'm sure the rights will be far greater than what is offered to unborn humans...

At the Mayo Clinic, scientists have created pigs whose veins flow with human blood.
And they've been doing some wonderful work at Doctor Moreau's lovely island research facility...

It would be far greater news if the story was how scientists created a blade of grass....out of nothing.
Seems all they have done is mess with what has already been created.
Sort of like putting a chevy engine in a Ford Mustang.

Moral Absolutes Ping.
Another article about mad scientists and their "chimeras". Particulalry noteworthy is this attitude:
***He states: "Anybody who puts their own moral guidance in the way of this biomedical science, where they want to impose their willnot just be part of an argumentif that leads to a ban or moratorium.
they are stopping research that would save human lives..."
So the mad scientists are now the moral arbiters of what is right and wrong. IOW, sheeple such as me and you should just STFU and kowtow to the all-knowing high priests of the "We Know What Is Good For You So Bend Over Now" religion.
These people also* want to repeal the laws of Nature. But they will find to their shame and horror that those laws are absolute, and they will be broken only with great cost, and great reaction.
This "chimera" hellishness is another glaring example of the desire to usurp God's supremacy. Plans founded on that rebellion invariably cause great harm.
Let me know if anyone wants on/off this pinglist.
*Others such as the "gender variance" crowd.

The long term effect of mixing the genetic material of different species is unpredictable.
The microbe is possibly the greatest threat to mankind compared to war and natural disasters. And we simply cannot predict where this will lead. This could unleash a catastrophe instead of "saving lives".
