If you come through Richmond on 95 be aware that speeding in that area will get an "enhanced" fine. Now.

"Speeding Fines Doubled Along Richmond I-95 Corridor
January 6, 2005
The Virginia Departments of Transportation, Motor Vehicles and State Police announced today that a 13-mile segment of Interstate 95 from Bells Road south of Richmond to Brook Road north of Richmond has been designated a "Highway Safety Corridor." Under a law passed by the Virginia General Assembly in 2003, maximum speeding fines in a Highway Safety Corridor are doubled, from $250 to $500. Minimum fines for Reckless Driving are set at $200 and can reach the maximimum fine of $2,500. Fines for DUI are unaffected and remain at a minimum of $250 and a maximum of $2,500. "

Thanks,

I try and travel with traffic so rarely do I get stopped. But it does happen from time to time. The fine is not the biggest deal (although a $500.00 - $700.00 fine is substantial!), the deciding factor to avoid VA would be that it requires another trip to the court.

Cordially,
GE
