I wonder if they thought of the fact that they will lose money from people like you and other future tourists? Of course not...........just as they didn't think of it when introducing SB 1191... a total ban on smoking (tobacco) in PRIVATE businesses.
Of course the idiot RINO that put it in is in NoVA and has absolutely no clue what damage he is going to do to the tourism industry of the Eastern Shore if this materializes.
I've only lived here 2 summers but was coming down from Delaware for more than 5. The increase in folks that used to vacation in Delaware prior to the smoking ban there is unbelievable.
This stupid speeding bill is going to do even more damage here on the shore.......There's only one way to get to Virginia Beach on this side of the Chesapeake Bay.

In Ireland parking infringements are exempted, but speeding incurs mandatory points on your licence (if you get 10 points, you lose your licence for a year). Those points must be declared to your insurance company. A regular speeding fine incurs two points, if it goes to court you get four.

It seems that using the public right of way is a privilege, not a right. And some members of the VA legislature belive that private property is a privilege and not a right.......and interestingly enough Mr. Albo's name comes up more than once in an LIS search.

Well, there was Vivian Watts and her gang of girl guards at the Demo gulag who wanted to make it a felony to sleep in your recreation room ~ you mean those people don't you?
Not sure what your reference is otherwise. We need a bit more detail to see if you've made a meaningful statement or simply want to speed on the local highways.

OK, my apologies....I thought my tagline would have given you the a hint.
I'm more than happy to take it to FReepmail.........as it is my issue and not that of anyone else.

Thanks,
I try and travel with traffic so rarely do I get stopped. But it does happen from time to time. The fine is not the biggest deal (although a $500.00 - $700.00 fine is substantial!), the deciding factor to avoid VA would be that it requires another trip to the court.
Cordially,
GE

IM not kidding. I worte on the remittance paper "Bullshit like jaywalking tickets is exactly why I left that damn state". Im now a happy native of Utah (as of a week ago) which, by the way, seems to be populated entirely by Californians. Everyone I talk to says they left there between 5 and 15 years ago.

Why do you say you disagree with me and then post exactly what I said? Fines have no impact on how fast someone drives.

You missed the word 'nice'. Raise the fines untill the scofflaws whine.
Seems to be working for drunks so let's confiscate a speeder's car.
I hope you approve of civil forfeiture or I'll let you fight that battle.

Let's say you are going North and I-95 toward the Springfield interchange. The speedlimit changes abruptly from 65MPH to 50MPH since this is still a construction zone and is heavily congested at all times.
You were already doing 80MPH. Rather than put on your brakes and cause your 18 wheeler to swerve, and possibly jack-knife, and maybe kill you, you just keep on trucking into the lines of cars blocking the highway ahead.
Yes, that's impolite!
We have had truck drivers simply shot in the head in this area over the years for having been impolite.

"I wonder if they thought of the fact that they will lose money from people like you and other future tourists?" I doubt that many folks will bypass our state 'cuz of this legislation, but it still stinks to high heaven. We already are one of the few states that've outlawed radar-detectors, and we're not that far removed from the days we usedta have toll booths on I-95.
Hope you and TNT are doing well...MUD

There have never been toll-booths on I-95 in Northern Virginia ~ just in the Richmond suburbs.

I live in Chesterfield (just southwest of Richmond) and haveta pay $1 each way going back and forth from work downtown...so we're still paying fer the highway...whatta JOKE!! I still say someone's gonna rise to power by proposing the elimination of the remaining tolls paid by south Richmonders. I know I'll be voting fer them...LOL!!
