We are in a new year and there will be new issues facing us. While education "seemed little more than a political footnote during the 2004 election" it will be very controversial in the post-election political arena. Below is a collection of my columns and blog entries on education from the past year, showing how Michael Moore liberals are destroying and reconstructing the public schools to fit their needs. Even though they are succeeding in invading the Education Establishment, their plans can be defeated with a parental influence in their children's education and the continuation of grassroots action against indoctrination, such as the Parents and Students for Academic Freedom.
Teaching the 3R's, Out of Style
The old days of learning the 3 R's in schools are over. Why concern yourselves with failing test scores, ensuring a high literacy rate, and making sure that students know their nation's history when the innovative age is upon us. Exemplary, patriotic, Moore-fearing teachers now have plenty of resources to create the perfect lesson plan.
What could be more "educational" than sitting down with your students and reading 'Dude Where's My Country' or watching Fahrenheit 9/11? Afterwards, sharing gut reactions to the film and solving the cost of the Iraq war in math class. These lessons, which any reasonable person would consider outrageous, are the examples set for today's teachers by Michael Moore/MoveOn.org liberals. There is no doubt that one of the main goals of the liberals for this year in their progressive agenda is to entirely destroy once an important and respected institution in American society, public education.
The Cultural Re-Education Center a.k.a. The Great Reconstruction
Forget algebra, geometry, traditional education of US History, the Constitution, and preparation for citizenship. Oh, and you can dump Kipling, Dickens, and any other possibly offensive classics out there. Those days are over as political correctness, anti-American textbooks, liberal indoctrination, and atheistic or Islamic bias are the norm. School has become a cultural re-education center.
Michael Moore's liberals have taken advantage of the "hands-off parenting" in America, where they replace the children’s parents with their own moral authority. They then pass on the amoral values they wish to see in young children, such as atheism, disrespect to private property, disintegration of family values, and anarchism or Marxism - or both.
'Ignorance is Bliss, 'Tis Folly to be Wise'
Michael Moore's educational reconstructionists particularly savor promoting ignorance in the public schools. The reconstructed public schools promote ignorance in all academic subjects, from civics where students are politically indoctrinated as opposed to educated, to English where classical books which do not fit the PC dogma are abrogated. Qualified teachers are considered an obstacle to the reconstructed school establishment, for they will hurt their mission of leaving every child behind.
The Michael Moore Reconstructionists are also actively rewriting American history. After all, what could be more shameful than admitting to your foreign leader friends that your country was founded by religious, politically incorrect (shudder) men who supported the right to bear arms and the freedom for a person of any political viewpoint to voice his or her opinion? Normal, truthful history textbooks are to be one of the main victims of the reconstruction. The "Language Police" is in full swing as a review process is formed to make modifications in our textbooks such as to change 'Founding Fathers' to 'Founding Framers"' and refusing to touch any kind of objectionable, politically incorrect content.
How to Stop the Reconstruction
By now anyone can understand that liberals are the majority in the public schools. However, there are ways to make the job harder for Michael Moore's education reconstructionists. Parents should be advised that the best method to preserve common sense in this country for the future generation is to promote ignorance in school to your children. That's right, ignorance, whether your child is sleeping through class, looking out of the window etc. The goal is to create a method of putting imaginative ear muffs on instead of learning about how President Reagan had an IQ of ten and how the Founding Fathers (sorry, I meant Framers) were racists and constantly abused the Native Indi...eh...Americans.
This plan is not at all similar to the liberal type of ignorance. On the contrary, homes should be transformed into mini-schools with banned books, politically incorrect history and more 'hands-on parenting,' with parents teaching their students the facts. The 'The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History', a personal favorite of mine, should be read in every patriotic home. After all, during the summer, one learns more than in an entire year of being uneducated by the American public education system.
Along with the plan to mute the reconstructionists's propaganda, grassroots action against liberal indoctrination should be at the same level as the campus organization, Students for Academic Freedom . The newly formed Parents and Students for Academic Freedom should start creating chapters in towns around the nation and rally against reconstructed schools. This reconstruction must be defeated as it may be one of the most important cultural battles which our country has faced.
