FreeMarketNews.Com, Jan. 21, 2005 - US Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking at a fund-raising dinner in Boston has come out forcefully on the issue of faith-based initiatives.
Other members of her party have in the past, been critical of such efforts, especially when they have emanated from the White House. However, in this little-noticed speech, Hillary [her staff’s preferred nomenclature] claimed that respect for the separation of church and state and faith-based approaches to social problems had been plagued by a “false division.”
The Boston Globe reports that in her talk to the crowd of attendees, numbering more than 500, she invoked “God” at least half a dozen times, and opined “I’ve always been a praying person.”
She further added, "There is no contradiction between support for faith-based initiatives and upholding our constitutional principles." She believes the public tent is big enough for those who are religious to "live out their faith in the public square."
Hillary - introduced by Boston’s Mayor who called her "the first first lady to be a US senator and maybe the first woman to be something else" – may have surprised her audience by emphasizing religion, but, put in a larger context, her speech may have been ideologically consistent.
Indeed, conservative circles have often identified Hillary as a disciple of communist Antonio Gramsci, the Italian communist who advocated a gradual – as opposed to revolutionary – takeover of Western republican educational, cultural and religious institutions. The Gramscian tendencies of Hillary along with her husband President William Jefferson Clinton, were well documented during President Clinton eight years in office. In a WorldNetDaily article, published Sept 19, 2000, noted free-market educator Dr. Samuel L. Blumenfeld wrote a cogent summary of Clinton’s Gramscian initiatives.
Blumenfeld reported on the release of a 49-page [white paper] entitled “Secret: FBI Documents Link Bill & Hillary Clinton to Marxist-Terrorist Network,” published by the Sunset Research Group of Wichita, Kan. He wrote: “It was a meticulously documented … showing the connections of the Clintons to the Institute for Policy Studies, a Marxist think tank in Washington. Clinton's top economic advisor was Derek Shearer, an IPS operative and advocate of Marxist socialism. Shearer's sister Brooke was also Hillary's traveling companion.”
Blumenfeld concluded that “Bill Clinton has been the perfect Gramscian president. … What would the perfect Gramscian president do? He would do everything in his power to expand the scope of government, and everything in his power to oppose the diminution of government power.”
Blumenfeld then listed some of the ways that President Clinton (and by inference Hillary) had advanced the socialist agenda by furthering federal control and continuing to decrease the American free-market way of life. President. He had:
-Vetoed tax relief for married couples.
-Vetoed a repeal of the death tax,
-Opposed any vouchers for the poor children of Washington, D.C. …
-Used the Antiquities Act of 1906 to justify his monument proclamations.
-Nationalized four million Western acres to create his environmental legacy.
-Launched an antitrust suit against Microsoft, one of the great enterprises of the new technology. …
-Facilitated the transfer of advanced military technology to the communist government of China.
-Let the Chinese take over the Panama Canal.
-Helped impose a socialist government in Haiti.
-Called the Branch Davidians suicidal fanatics and set the stage for their incineration
-Ordered the kidnapping of Elian Gonzalez so that the boy could be returned to Cuba.
-Released Puerto Rican terrorists from prison. …
-Placed American troops under United Nations' command.
-Used some 323 executive orders and 82 presidential decision directives to further his agenda - including EO 13061 which put all of America's major rivers and tributaries under federal control.
Hillary’s “turn to the right” in her reported presidential quest has been noted by many in the media. By adopting the position of “conservative” President George W. Bush, Hillary attempts to silence conservative critics while endorsing legislation that allows government to fund religious charities with tax dollars. This brings up the larger question of how a reputed Gramscian such as Hillary comes to be in a position where the adoption of a center-plank of a conservative president’s domestic agenda can be seen as a furthering of the American republican cause.
In his first term President George W. Bush vastly expanded the scope – and ambition - of federal government with his “no child left behind” education program, his acquiescence to campaign reform (which effectively banned certain kinds of political free speech) and the proposal to fund charitable church activities with federal dollars. Military spending rose dramatically as a result of the war on terror. Legislative efforts to roll back Social Security and restructure the tax system were never pursued.

Assuming there is no great change in the laws governing 527's I would hope that some enterprising Freepers would help get one organized - there is a "goldmine of truth" within the FR archives that needs to be retold to the American people - I would certainly donate to see that happen as would many others
