Just wondering why I'm getting 2 pings?
I loves the DUFUs but My Comments page is pretty full LOL

These maroons can't even get their own time periods and nicknames right. The "yuppies" meant Young Upcoming Professionals, and was the generation that came of age in the late 70's and early 80's. They were late baby boomers and Korea baby boomers.

I think that Hippie Hunting article was originally from back in the days when I was syndicating my own humor column. I got the idea of self-syndicating when I was working as an editor/writer at a humor magazine. I was AMAZED at the low quality of the article submission. Not only the stories themselves but the lack of any basic knowledge of how to write a cover letter. Often the cover letter was nothing more than a few scribbled sentences.

Soon afterwards I sent out my own humor article submissions (including the Hippie Hunting one). The money earned wasn't much but I am still proud of the fact that EVERY ONE of my articles were published in some newspaper somewhere. Oh, and lots of them were read by MILLIONS of Russkies back when I was the American Correspondent of Krokodil Magazine in the waning days of the old Evil Empire.

Speaking of which, the new upcoming Batman Begins movie looks to be pretty cool.

You speak for me, also. I've been crying all afternoon and evening - and much of the last 2 and a half years, since the 2002 elections - feeling the repressions of this era.

what a pathetic bunch of losers they are, that their happiness in life completely depends on whether or not their candidates win...

It's fine and dandy if somebody chooses to live that way, then or now. I like hot water, a clear head, vacations, clean sheets, good food, decent people, a roof over my head that I pay for, cars, computers, Satellite TV, Cd's, money...stuff that you can't get laying around high and complaining.

Accidental. I hit the SEND button the first time and nothing seemed to happen. Then hit is a second time. Apparently it worked the first time. Next DUFU edition, if nothing happens the first time, I'll check to see if it went out via a separate window.

If I ever decide to loose the bounds of rationality, that'll be my destination.

Shyeah. IF. :)

I was a teenager during the 60s, these people were useless then and still are. What a shame they still adore doing nothing with their lives.

Q: What is orange, red, and looks good on hippies?
A: Fire

I hate hippies and everything they did to my country.

THIS era wouldn't be nearly so difficult for me if it had even some of the hope, idealism and bouyancy of that time, but that's missing, at least from my perspective.

Perhaps if this specimen had spent a bit more of his/her developmental years in reality instead of a self induced narcotic stupor reality wouldn't be so hard to deal with.

our current social problems ... can all be traced back to that time.

The truth of that was illustrated throughout 2004. The Rats ran a 60's retread who as of last week was doing exectly what he did in that era: dissing American foreign policy and backhanding our troops in the field.

And we had to beat that candidate with the *trth* from the 60's in the form of the SWIFTvets.

The Rats do maintain a very strong bond with the 60's and 70's for the same reasons mentioned by the DUmmies, but they have no issues that morph with their nostalgia.

They're getting old, sir, and beginning to regret they never did much with their lives. I read the original thread, and the predominant subconscious theme is depression because they couldn't play all the time, and now that they're getting old and looking back, subconsciously they appear to understand they lived essentially useless lives.

If they knew anything about God, well, that would alleviate these regrets--God forgives all--but they don't know anything about God.

Just when you think you've seen once and for all what losers they are, they surprise you again with their insane rantings! They're certifiable, or else just Berkeley residents.

Funny post, PJ.

No accomplishments....other than growing long hair.

And from many of their photographs of allegedly themselves, they're losing that hair, too, as they descend into old age.

They've got nothing left but the hair, and the hair's going.

Without a doubt, and the realization that they tried - and failed - twice to change this great country (although their kind did a lot of damage during the dark years of 1993-2000) must be a huge burden. Imagine suddenly awakening to the realization that no one wants what you are preaching.
It's sad, really, because I know quite a few left over hippies that could have amounted to something if they had just applied themselves. Unfortunately many of them still subscribe to the old theory that "Dope will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no dope".

You know, sir, I am not young myself, and made a lot of really bad mistakes in my life, but when looking at others who grew up at the same time I did (the infamous "Baby Boomer" generation), who had adopted, vigorously and enthusiastically, the "hippie culture," it just seems that despite some of these pretty massive mistakes I made, I have fewer, or no, regrets. Things happen.

Along with fewer, or no regrets, I still have all my original hair, all my original teeth.....as compared with the alleged photographs of DUmmies my own age.

I am just lucky, I guess.

As usual the lefties are seeing only what they want. They ignor the vast protest movement against abortion in the country while demoaning the lack of the young gettting involved in protests.
