It sounds like a great idea to me.

On the other hand, why on earth do you need a T-1 at home, isn't cable sufficient and a whole lot cheaper?

It's a bidirectional SDSL 1.1mbps dedicated circuit with a 29 bit block of addresses hanging off the end of it. I do hosting and general network services support for my brother's company. :-)

....so technically, it's not a T-1. I shouldn't have said that. A T-1 is 1.544 mbps and is framed a LOT differently. This circuit I've got is actually encapsulated as frame relay between my router and the DSLAM. I don't know why, but that's the way the TELCO set it up! :-)
