______________________________________________________
*While reading reviews about the "Live Aid" DVD on Amazon, I read a comment from a teenager that wrote that it's an ideal gift for his/her parents. And knowing that Live Aid was from 1985.
*Because when I mentioned Hall & Oates to my cousin who is 20 he had NO clue as to who I was talking about. Becauase Bon Jovi, who just came out with "Runnaway" like YESTERDAY -- right? (not) is now over 20 yrs old and considered "Classic." Because "Do They Know it is Christmas" is now 20 yrs old..........................................

* Knowing that in a little over a year it will be the 20th anniversary of the Challenger explosion and remembering being home from school due to snow and watching it happen."
I was home sick that day from college, I remember calling Mom at work telling her and she thought I was pulling her leg. The same thing happened when Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981, I came home from school being in 8th grade and turned the TV set on to hear Frank Reynolds of ABC News breaking in on the speaker while wating for the TV screen to warm up (our 1970 Zenith). I called Mom then and she thought I was pulling her leg there too.

I stayed home "sick" from school to watch Luke and Laura get married (for the first time) on General Hospital. VCRs weren't around then.
Well, theyh ad 'em then but they were an arm and a leg. B-) I remember about 1983, one of the friends I hung out with wanted a CD player so bad but $1200 was way out of reach for him. It was a huge thing for a component stereo system. I remember a yar later, he did get a MAC-10 for his 17th birthday although it was in his father's name since it was an automatic weapon. B-)

* Remember Weeble Wobbles? They don't fall down! Geez, that brings back memories. I don't know if everyone did this, but my sister and I grew up watching Sesame Street religiously! We learned everything we needed to know from this show and didn't even have to go to Kindergarten! It wasn't even required so we just went straight to first grade. Here's another one for you...remember those friendship pins people wore on their shoes? They were made out of colored beads and safety pins. It was an awesome decade!
Weebles? I rmemeber those from the 1970's. My buddy and I got a hacksaw to cut one open to see how they worked and there was a steel ball in there to alter the center of gravity so they always stayed up.

20 years ago I had three kids under 2 ... sure didn't know what was going on .. OTHER THAN that, by the Good Grace of God, we had Ronald W. Wilson as POTUS.

Those pictures are awesome!! LOL
I was just talking to my 7 year old daughter about jelly shoes and leg warmers...she looked at me...said "hmmm" and turned and walked away from me.
I was in junior high in the 80's...now I'm teaching 8th graders. A couple of the girls have come to school with leg warmers. I told them leg warmers were a big fashion "back in the day"...they thought I was joking!

I still have mine in the basement! They're great for keeping my feet warm when I'm shoveling the driveway.

I have a couple of friendship beads in my jewelry case. My 7 year old daughter loves them. I bought her some beads and safety pins for Christmas...and she loves them! She's making some for her friends at school.

I have lots of 80's music, some original albums. "Kids" will come to me at work while I play it and simply go nuts. 1983 seems like yesterday.

I play music at the beginning of class and when they are working in groups. It's all 80's music...and they love it. Billy Joel is one of the class favorites. I'm not sure of the song title or even the release date, but it's says.."we didn't start the fire"...they LOVE it.
