So here they are: The Reasons for Children of the 80s to Feel Old
______________________________________________________
*While reading reviews about the "Live Aid" DVD on Amazon, I read a comment from a teenager that wrote that it's an ideal gift for his/her parents. And knowing that Live Aid was from 1985.
*Because when I mentioned Hall & Oates to my cousin who is 20 he had NO clue as to who I was talking about. Becauase Bon Jovi, who just came out with "Runnaway" like YESTERDAY -- right? (not) is now over 20 yrs old and considered "Classic." Because "Do They Know it is Christmas" is now 20 yrs old..........................................

Agree, I am not a vain, self cenetered idiot know it all now.
And everyday is precious too.
My son has his t shirt from back then.
What is a hall & oates? Somekind a farm tools?
LOL OMG I watched American Gigolo with Gere not to long ago and thought how LAME how did I ever think he was hot in that movie. He didn't even have a neck rest in his sportscar he could have broke his neck. LOL
My son BD 1979 loves Christian Southern, Country and '50's music.
Don't know I am into R and B and his Dad is a die hard Rock n Roll fan.
In my day us kids were the remote control for the parents.
I don't care for Country music but Alan Jackson can turn me around anytime, not that he would be into big old ladies.
OMG Soap Operas I was a new Mom and remember what a slut I thoght Bobbie was for always trapping Scott Baldwin into bed ticking off Laura then she got raped by Luke.....
I have not watched soaps in over twenty five years lol.
I played one for my son the other day Calogon Ancient Chinese Secret huh
Hasta be Shasta
I'll bring my DuranDuran and Culture Club 12" singles along with my Atari 2600 and C64!
I hate threads like this, it reminds me I'm no longer 18, even though I feel that way.
Now I know how my parents felt when I didn't have a clue who Annette Funicello, or the Ronettes were.
I saw a DVD of Journey's reunion tour the other day- without Steve Perry, I might add. The audience shots were just sad. Me and my friends were just laughing hysterically at the 80s retreads dancing to the music...
I remember when TV land was only a couple of hours on Nick. Of course, I also remeber "Late Night Videos", and the dawn of HBO and MTV. Oh, and when you couldn't get the Disney channel unless you also ordered the Playboy channel.
That last family pic-- no way!
That was the day I got my braces off. We were in a hotel (orthodontist was an overnight trip) and his name was McAullife. I remember I was going to ask him if he was related to Christa, and getting ready to go when I saw the Challenger explode on TV. Seems like yesterday.
Came across a pic of me ready to go to a STRYPER concert, feathered bangs, yellow and black striped outfit, black fringe boots, and pink (yes pink) mascara. *shiver*
I saw Star Wars at least eight times,
Had the Packman pattern memorised.
And I've seen the stuff they put inside Stretch Armstrong, yeah.
Oh, I was Roger Staubach in my backyard,
Had a shoebox full of baseball cards,
And a couple of Evil Knievil scars on my right arm.
Well, I was a kid when Elvis died.
An' my momma cried:
Well, it was nineteen-seventy-something,
In the world that I grew up in.
Farah Fawcett hair-do days,
Bell bottoms and eight-track tapes.
Lookin' back now I can see me.
Oh man, did I look cheesy.
But I wouldn't trade those days for nothin':
Oh, it was nineteen-seventy-something.
It was the dawning of a new decade,
We got our first microwave,
Dad broke down and finally shaved them old sideburns off.
I took the stickers off a-my Rubik's cube.
Watched MTV all afternoon.
My first love was Daisy Duke in them cut-off jeans.
Space shuttle fell out of the sky.
And the whole world cried.
Well, it was nineteen-eighty-something,
In the world that I grew up in.
Skatin' rinks and black Trans-Ams.
Big hair and parachute pants.
An' lookin' back now I can see me.
Oh man, did I look cheesy.
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin':
Oh, it was nineteen-eighty-something.
Now I got a mortgage and an SUV,
But all this responsibility,
Makes me wish sometimes:
It was nineteen-eighty-something,
In the world that I grew up in.
Skatin' rinks and black Trans-Ams.
Big hair and parachute pants.
An' lookin' back now I can see me.
Oh man, did I look cheesy.
I wouldn't trade those days for nothin':
Oh, it was nineteen-eighty-something.
Nineteen-seventy-something.
Oh, it was nineteen something.
Amen! :)
