Well, instead of turning it over to the DNC or saving for another Presidential run, he's going to use it up on lawyers contesting the election.
The problem with this guy has always been too much money and too much leisure time, and he's proving it once again.

He has likely been told to generate a record of pursuing this action, or risk a lawsuit involving not only his, but his wife's money. He's just covering their collective butts at the request of legal.
