PHILADELPHIA, December 17, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A group of eleven Christians were arrested on October 10 for praying, singing, and reading scripture during an annual "gay pride" event known as "Outfest" in Philadelphia. The members of the group were charged with three felony (criminal conspiracy, ethnic intimidation, and riot) and five misdemeanor charges.

An appeal to a federal appeals court to stop the prosecution was denied Tuesday. Further, charges were dropped against seven of the men and women. However, Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge William Austin Meehan ordered four of the group members to stand trial on the charges. If convicted, they could face up to 47 years in prison.

Since the federal courts did not intervene to halt the state prosecution, the last route for the four in question would be an appeal to the Supreme Court according to their attorney Brian Fahling, senior trial attorney for the...

Methinks the judge and "Charles" might have a little love nest on the side.

This is very disturbing. When I write to my wonderful U.S. reps in Congress and Senate about these "hate" crime issues, they have absolutely nothing to say, not even in form-letter form.

"God's way is to have people go to prison or die for their faith"

If that was "sometimes" GOD's plan .. then there are too many of us left alive. God's plan is to spread the Gospel .. not get arrested and/or die.

Well .. you are entitled to your opinion. I do realize that GOD has in the past sent people into prisons for a specific purpose - but therein lies my conviction - if you KNOW God is sending you into prison for a specfic purpose - then God will supply the way out.

My concern is that people do these things - believing they are doing God's work - and what they end up doing is putting themselves in peril when GOD was not requiring them to do that. Then .. when they don't get rescued .. they blame GOD - but GOD never told them to do it in the first place. OR .. worse .. they tell the world .. GOD sent them to suffer for their faith .. pitiful!!

I didn't mean all the time, but Paul spread the Gospel from prison.

Yes he was .. AFTER HE HAD EVANGELIZED THE WHOLE KNOWN WORLD. Once again proving my point. I have a 3-yr degree from Triumphant Word Training Center, where I was also the Center's director for 3 years. Thanks for the blessing .. I love studying the Word. Paul's journeys were a favorite of mine.

True 'justice' in the Left's America? To let cop-murderer Mumia out of his cell and throw the 4 Christians onto death-row. God, please save my country.

It's hardly my opinion that people have been put into difficult situations, such as prisons, in order that God's work could be done. Just read the New Testament and see that those who were in charge of the prisons were ministered to by Peter and Paul. Entire households were saved and certainly the Gospel didn't stop there.

As I said in my first reply, I agree with you that people who are facing such decisions should be praying about it and not just grandstanding so that they can feel self-righteous. However, God can turn our bad decisions into good works, despite us. Those who take risks for Christ deserve our prayers, that their actions turn into glory for God, whatever their motive is.

If that happens (free cop killers, execute Christian protestors) it is time for revolution. I have no doubt that a good portion of the "free Mumia" crowd would pay a whole welfare check to buy tickets to see Christians executed.

Right, that is exactly what Paul did. Instead of relying on God and listening to his advisors, he relied on Roman law and requested a trial in Rome. Had he not done that, he would have been released.

All of us have lapses of faith from time to time and this was an example in Paul.
