Some of these soldiers know nothing. They don't know why they're there -- they don't have backgrounds in history or foreign policy, but they go because of duty, or because of a death wish, or because they had no where to go. Some of them are horrible people, some of them are weak, some of them will get caught up in atrocity, some will lead, some will enjoy it -- some will wake up sweating, someday -- saying "God, I'm sorry." Some will come home and nothing will have happened -- I'm back, I've soldiered, I'm sand. I did what I had to do -- and will watch football and will wave the flag, and will die fifty years from now, hating the neocons who put him there -- or she will die loving the cause still, because superiority is survival. Acquisition of resources, of position is a shingled roof, shiny slide, and an artificial heart, a trip to the moon. To the Victor goes the flatscreen, the Clapper.
Another poster...
"I have nothing personally against any of our troops. But I can't support their actions against a non-threatening country and kill unarmed civilians. It doesn't matter that they were ordered to do it. That's the same excuse Hitler's troops had"
And the second comment is equally beyond contempt: The Democrat Underground poster equated the U.S. military of the 21st Century to the Nazi Army of the 20th Century.
Conservatives can only hope that these views continue to dominate the Democrat Party, to hurry it onto oblivion.
Who cares what they think?
Drivel. The only thing you can do with DU is ignore them.
Well, I screwed up something here. These comments were on a thread from Democrat Underground -- not from me. I hope that comes through in my reaction down below in Post 1
DUers do NOT support US or ally troops. They are anti-American leftists.
I'll wager 90% of them have never served in the military, while 90% of us have. They're whiny little children.
Out of touch...out of their minds...out of power.
Well, I thought this particular thread in DU was important, because one often hears how the liberals support the troops but oppose the war.
I realize the thread is not a scientific sample. But the tenor is similar. I believe there's more too it than opposing the policy.
More likely than not, most liberals probably don't support the troops, either -- because they are American troops.

What's a neocon? I've seen it used for so many different groups that I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean. I don't think the writer does either.
They hate-America. They hate the military. They hate Christianity. They hate mom and dad. They hate Republicans. They hate Santa....
(1) Thinks that currency besides gold bullion is still money.
(2) Thinks that having to pay taxes and have a driver's license is not the same as living under Stalin.
(3) Thinks that America is right about things every once in a while.
(4) Doesn't find Jews to be frightening and suspicious.
"Who cares what they think?"
Actually, I have this fun game I like to play in moments of boredom. I will read a news headline and then go to DU to see how closely I can predict how they will react. The precision of my predictions is astounding.
The democratic undergound is full of people that post opinion that they think will be popular with the majority of people on that site... look carefully at how they word things... they are very PC and make sure that they use specific words... It is one of the worst cases of groupthink that i have ever seen... most there do not support the troops or their mission... they will profess it though if they feel it will help there commentary or their cause... It is leftist socialist drivel.
I posted a thread over there a few months ago.
It was a story about our snipers in Iraq.
The first sentence of the story was from an Army Ranger who said, "I saw the Iraqi's head explode like a watermelon."
You should have heard the howls from the DUmmies.
"It is one of the worst cases of groupthink that i have ever seen"
And they refer to US as getting marching orders.....
They believe that the vast majority of soldiers in Iraq voted Kerry. Some of them believed that states would flip to Kerry because of incoming military votes.
"Support the troops" but "oppose the wars". The counter-argument is to ask whether they believe Nazi soldiers executed for war crimes were just following orders.
