Some of the trivia on the blogs might not be there if it were not for the "no cameras in court" ruling. I think they're trying to give people the sense of what is going on, since there's no way anyone can actually see for themselves. Personally, I think it's a mistake to disallow cameras for that reason.

I think, too, that the bloggers or at least their assmt editors are following the literary traditions in murder mystery writing. Those details bring the descriptions "to life", for a subject matter that is supposed to be glaring and visceral--graphic--and as such you'll read the same kind of thing in the true crime genre that followed, too. It's just hopping media again.
