START OF THE MONDAY QUARTERBACKING DECISION:
4:00 p.m. PT
In an apparent move to avoid the crowd of reporters and citizens outside the courthouse, the jurors are taken out of court through an underground parking garage instead of their usual exit on the sidewalk. Beth Karas and I are standing outside the garage when the two sheriff's vans pull out. I can see the Teamster seated in the front passenger seat of the first van. A photographer from the Modesto Bee is standing with us and he begins taking photos. The court officer driving the first van slams on the brakes and leaps out of the vehicle. He stomps over to the photographer, Al Golub, while shouting, "Did you take a picture?" He stammers, "I did." The officer orders him to hand over the disc from his camera. He offers to delete the image, but the officer snaps, "I don't have time, buddy." He grabs the disc and gets back in the van. The van pulls away, brakes sqealing. The second van follows. In the front seat, Strawberry Shortcake is roaring with laughter. Harriet Ryan
3:35 p.m. PT: Deliberations end for the day.
False alarm. Delucchi announces that "the jury has been asked to be excused for the night. They'll be back Monday morning 8 o'clock." No verdict this week. Harriet Ryan
3:33 p.m.
Minutes after defense lawyers came to the courtroom, prosecutors arrive at court. The judge is here in his robe. Looks like something is going down. Harriet Ryan
3:05 p.m.
Just minutes ago, the courtroom was atwitter because Stanislaus County District Attorney James Brazelton took a seat in the courtroom. Does it mean something? Is a verdict near? Those questions quickly fade as Brazelton walks out of the courtroom. The bailiff, who has been walking in and out of the judge's chambers, tries to reassure nosy reporters that he's just "doing some housekeeping." "Because I'm running around doesn't mean anything happens," the bailiff says. "It doesn't mean nothing's happening," someone shouts back. Harriet Ryan....
Nancy Grace on Court TV
gave the nickname, Strawberry
Shortcake, to one of the ladys
on the jury. She colors her
hair in shades of pink & red.
Hah!! That's essentially what they would do, if they could--except, they'd want to make sure his "exercise area" was a golf course!
If you could replace Greta, you'd be a real hero! And could someone also replace the breathless Rita and Gerrrrraldo? Fox would be so much better without them!
Absolutely correct.
James Carville?
All attorneys "in chambers" at the moment.
9? Visible or did she say she had nine total?
She a juror who is described as having "scarlett hair,
huge earrings and NINE TATTOOS."

CTV reports that there is action at the court house. Everyone is beginning to gather.
Verdict time?
Pinz
Yep.
We'll know soon what's going on,
since Beth Karas is also in the courtroom.
I like her best of all.
You should also mention for Ken that she cried a bit and everyone speculated that she had sympathy for the defense but still voted guilty.
Could be pinz...
hope it's not a hung jury.
We need a verdict.
Either LWOP or DP is ok with me.
Ken, please see post #72.
Not sure if Ken is all that interested...lol.
"Significant activity."
Something is happening!
I believe as many observers do that if there is a verdict at all... it's for death.
Did I just hear that Geragos has left the judge's chambers?
Me, too.
I'm tired of waiting for the jury. LOL
What! :)
