Tough Duty for Marines
Lance Cpl. Wyatt Schertenleib and Lance Cpl. Adam Smith of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit help secure a concertina-wire barrier in a canal, upstream from a recently destroyed bridge in Lutafiyah, Iraq, Nov. 13. They set up the wire to prevent possible floating improvised explosive devices from hampering the MEU's bridge reconstruction efforts. The bridge was severely damaged in repeated attacks by anti-Iraqi militants.
Schertenleib, 21, is a Republic, Wash., native and Smith, 21, is a Ripley, W.Va., native. Both are combat engineers with Engineer Detachment, MEU Service Support Group 24.

I salute all our Marinee,Army,Navy, and Airforce personel as they continue often performing tough and dangerous assignments in Iraq and Afganistan. They continue to demonstrat courage and committement as they slowly rid these countries of all groups against peace withing the framework of a democratic society. It is getting cold in those two countries as most realize. I do know that there where signs of ice in Baghdad last week, according to a certain Marine Major that frequents this site, and is currently in Iraq. So that water they are working in is not exactly comfortable.
Semper Fi to them all.
