These numbers do not relate in any way to what is on the official website for the Ohio Secretary of State. For starters, Ms. Connelly received 2,018,987 votes statewide compared to Kerry's 2,659,667. She got about 46 percent of the vote compared to Kerry's 48 percent. Very consistent and what one would expect. Where is this "more than 257,000 votes than Kerry"? She received 640,680 votes less .

In Butler County, which had about a 68 percent turnout, Ms. Connelly received 59,526 votes compared to her opponent's 66,625 votes, very similar to the statewide split. Bush received 106,735 votes in Butler County, compared to 86,587 votes in 2000. Kerry received 54,185 votes, compared to Gore's 46,390 votes in 2000. Kerry got more votes than Gore, about 16 percent more, but Bush got 23 percent more than he did in 2000. It's called Get Out the Vote for a reason. Perhaps Ms. Connelly got some cross-over votes or maybe some Democrats crossed over to vote for Bush, then stayed with the Democrat ticket the rest of the way. Bush might have received more in 2000 except for the last minute DUI issue. BTW, Butler County is in southwest Ohio, so the votes are what one would expect in that region.

Yea, ultimately that's what it is.

Some in the left have an incredible time coping with this - the fact that someone would vote for other democrats on the ballot amd yet no vote for Kerry on the same ballot.

Interestingly these are the same folks who insist that GOPers are brainless folks who can't think for themselves and who move in lock step with their party.

Then they lament and find it 'incredible' that some democrat voters, it seems, don't move in lock-step with the dems straight-down on the ticket.

Whenever I presonally encounter this, I ask the 'progressive' thinker how many Republicans they have voted for? Invariably, I have voted for more democrats in my time than they have ever voted for Republicans - not too bad for a brainless GOPer, huh?

The liberal mind - a wonderous place.

"In analyzing the still-unofficial results, the totals reveal that C. Ellen Connally, an African-American Democratic candidate from Cleveland for Ohio Chief Justice, received more than 257,000 votes than Kerry."

F'n liars. Jesse Jackson can't tell the truth and Air America can't count.

Connally received 2,018,987 votes. President Bush received 2,796,147 votes. Senator Kerry received 2,659,644 votes.

Here's the Ohio Secretary of State's election URL:

I'd appreciate it if we don't bring flame wars to other unrelated threads.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now we can all sleep soundly knowing that the DUmmies will be freaking out about this story for another week.

They are really losing it over there. I have to admit that I've found the aftermath of the election a bit of a letdown, but have enjoyed watching the DUmmies working themselves into a frenzy to include donating money to groups "investigating" the election.

This is Jesse Jackson we're talking about?

When's the last time Jesse Jackson supported a winning candidate or cause?
There is no way Jesse and the left are going find a way to discredit Bush's 136,000 vote lead..and be believed by anybody but the fringe left nut cases.

Excellent and FACTUAL explanation regarding Butler county vote.

Owen, I think this should do it, and I hope you relax now.

Y'all done good, and what an avalanche of attention came about. It is clear I am not the only one choosing to stay vigilant until January 20.
