I believe in the Constitution. I don't always go to the Founding Fathers for personal, moral advice. Those are two different things. For instance, if I wanted to know what Thomas Jefferson thought personally about slavery and black people, is that advice I want? I don't think so. He also questioned the Bible and had his own version of the Bible, not something I would do. The constitution says something else entirely. I do model my approach to renaissance living after Thomas Jefferson. He lived a remarkable life in that respect but no I don't look to them for how to live morally. I have the Bible for that.

BTW, you answered your own question with respect to those quotes. Of course, Thomas Jefferson would be against those things if this country was about the will of the majority dictating things. However, the majority will hasn't always been the best thing in this country. That's tyranny of the majority on minorities (not meaning racial, ethnic necessarily).

That's okay. I don't think I made myself clear. Then again, I've just concluded a dinner of turkey and mince pie ;-)

BTW, I need to brush up on my American studies. Make sure you get Mark Levin's book about the constitution and activist judges. It sounds like a winner.

Thomas Jefferson is DEAD. He was from a different time entirely.

So's Plato.

You have to work???? Wow well I hope you get to enjoy dinner.

Oh, yes, I got the dinner, got the family time, and all was well. I just have a project that's due Monday. One guy is actually coming in Saturday and Sunday to finish his part - but he needs my piece done before he can do his. Therefore, I'll go full bore tonight and tomorrow, and then throw it over the fence to him.

Well, I cannot tell a lie. If it were totally up to me, I would probably just find a reason to push it out further in the week. It's really the guy working for me on Saturday (HIS idea, NOT mine) that's gung-ho about getting it done, so I feel somewhat obligated to honor HIS devotion. God bless 'im.
