Hey, you forgot "Imagine." The Beatles' socialist anthem is the perfect accompaniment to the DU meltdown- they can "Imagine" how all the hippy-dippy pipe dreams expressed in that song are NEVER going to come true!

My intelligent, conservative nine-year old asked me what that song was all about, and we had a great talk about the '60s, socialism and conservatism. She concluded that the lefties of her mother's generation were hopelessly naive and out of touch with reality.

Imagine is one of several atheist anthems. Dear God was another (and that one was adapted by XTC in the 1980s and acheived successful radio airplay).

Godless communism kills too. "No possessions" is an anarchist concept ("All property is theft.") or could hint at a totalitarian government (no private ownership).

Dogs and other creatures don't worship God. They don't believe in nations or borders. Yet they DO mark territory and are hostile to strangers (especially those that mean harm to their offspring).

Meanwhile, this man who thought that the whole world should play nice (let alone COULD play nice) if only religion was done away with, was unable to ever reconcile with Paul McCartney who at least at one time appears to have been a close friend.
