The names appear the same, possibly due to convergence in the English transliterations. :') The OT Biblical Tarshish is often placed in Tartessos, in the Guadalquivir valley in Spain, but Tartessos is in fact a fictional city, made up in order to find a place for Tarshish to have been. :') This is not to say that various remains have not been found there (very small ones, including one smallish ceremonial site), only to say that the "Welcome to Tartessos" sign wasn't one of the finds. :') Calling it "Tartessian" will probably persist down through the ages unless someone comes up with some kind of indigenous name, or better yet, an archive.
