It's pretty disturbing how out-of-touch the people over at DU are. I'm guess I'm just one of those knuckle-dragging, uneducated mid-westerners. Me any my silly Computer Science Bachelor's degree (with honors) from one of the top schools in Illinois--but what do I know???

I minored in USSR History. When I lurk on DU I am reminded of a Soviet professor I had for many classes who hated the Soviet system and pointed out to us how backwards it was. Reading the DU posts with their hateful words, tinfoil hat conspiracy theories, and swearing convinces me where the real intolerance resides in this country.

I once posted a couple of messages in DU but my access was promptly removed--dissent is not allowed there, much as it was not allowed under the Soviets. It is actually pretty amusing.

Now granted, the people at DU are the worst of the worst--true socialist's. A view many of them have freely admitted. But when you contrast the entire mood between DU and here at Free Republic the difference is striking. No wonder the conservatives won.
