Flyers being left in Mailboxes...

TOPICS: Local News; Politics
KEYWORDS: democrats; mailbox; politicalflyer
This is my first Thread, so forgive me if I did it incorrectly.

I have a guy that works for me get a call from his wife this morning. She had a guy knocking on her door this morning and she was at home with the kids. She did not answer the door, and by the time she was able to get ahold of a male neighbor to see who this person was, the guy was gone. This may have been totally unrelated, but the van was in her driveway for over 10 minutes.

When she went out later that morning she opened her mailbox to see a "flyer" in the mailbox. On the flyer it had a graphic photo of a man in a turbin carrying a child that had been injured/killed (missing limbs) in some sort of explosion. Not sure of the nationality, but they may have been Iraqi. I believe this photo is on the internet, I will see if I can locate it later. It also had two sentences. One said "Does this look pro life to you?" the other said "What does your God say about pre-emted war?" That is all that was on the flyer.

We are still trying to find out if any other neighbors received them as well. The entire cul de sac where the flyer was left has Bush/Cheney signs displayed proudly in the yards.

So far he has contacted a couple of news outlets, and the police. The police came out and filed a report to document the incident. Apparently it is illegal to leave flyers in mailboxes. The guy working for me was upset, because his three year old daughter could have easily pulled this out of the mailbox. It isn't so much that it was political in nature as much as it was just inapropriate to leave in a mailbox. He should be on the Atlanta news tonight at 11. It will be interesting to see how this gets reported.

Leaving anything in the mailbox that was not mail with postage used to be illegal--federal offense.

A vehicle parked in my driveway for 10 minutes that was not owned by me or anyone I know...would have met with a bad end.

Here is a link to the picture, there are a lot of other graphic photos as well so if you don't want to see them, don't go to the link. The photo itself is fairly graphic, so I am not going to post it here.

Checked out the link. A leftist propaganda group spreading lies wholesale about President Bush while faintly pretending to leave the impression that they are doing nothing more and nothing less than dispensing factual information on each candidate.

Hadn't thought of that. He said he will do that as well.

He had also contacted the Republican Party, and one of the Reps is going to get in touch with Ralph Reed. Don't know if that will go anywhere, but the people we have contacted seem like they want to make it known that this sort of thing is going on.

As for the website I linked to, I just did a google search and that was one of the first few sites that I looked at.

A VERY GOOD first post, and Welcome to Free Republic!

To the Almighty MOD: I ping'ed you, because this can and should be used as a fine example of how a newcomer post should look and read.

The only possible suggestion for improvement, would be to put the text up in the body of the post, and not in the comment area.

Other than that, a wonderful job!

Thanks. I guess I thought the body part was like the heading. I had seen it done both ways, and some of the low bandwidth people seem to complain when you put too much in the "preview" window. I went the safe way, though like you I like to read enough in the preview to know if I want to open the thread.
