The fact that a rino like Bush is the Republican candidate is proof that liberalism is thriving. Conservatism, Freedom, and the Constitution is whats dead.

If it was, then it wouldn't be such a bother. It is and it costs a lot.

I wish I could say I agree. I believe, however, that leftism is more than an ideology. It's a natural phenomenon that springs from envy and self-loathing, facilitated and enabled by the very human lust for power.

Did anyone notice conservatism is dead, too? The right has undergone a radical transformation. The '08 election is going to be a battle between two dead entities.

A little perspective is sometimes useful. If Alger Hiss or Lyndon Johnson or George McGovern or Mondale and Dukakis or Clinton didn't "kill off" liberalism or leftism, Kerry won't either. No more than the Great Depression or McCarthy or Goldwater or Nixon "killed off" conservatism. Ideologies have a way of going on and changing with time. So it's stupid to say that one ideology or the other will die anytime soon. Right and left is one of those persistent oppositions that never go away. The content -- what is right and what is left -- varies widely over time, but the opposition endures.

You are absolutely dreaming! I wish it were so ... but let's take a look:

The dems have put up as their candidate a guy that's as uncharismatic as a carboard cutout and has voted hard left for 20 years. Their veep choice is a handsom slick-talking 1 term senator who got 160 million bucks for being a slip and fall lawyer.

And even though their campaign is being run into the ground, they still will garner 45-50% of the popular vote.

And you think the left is near dead? All it takes is a guy with charisma who's a slick-talker and who is really smart to clean our clocks (Bill Clinton times two).

No siree. There's still a huge amount of educating the general public about economics ... history... and yes morality that needs to be done. Over half a century of liberal-controlled education and a liberal media is overcome that easily my friend.

>> small-minded, irrational, mean-spirited, and uninformed. In other words, by being bad liberals.

The author implies that there is such a thing as good liberals. He is mistaken. There is only one species of liberal, all of them small-minded, irrational, mean-spirited, uninformed, childish, immoral, deceitful, narcissistic and invariably wrong, even when they come down on both sides of an issue.

What has become of liberals is they have sunk into what is becoming known as subliberalism, a hateful muckraking bunch that call themselves "liberals"...
