All you need to stop a DOS attack is to ignore the requests. The wastebasket starts at the server being attacked, and with a few phone calls, works it s way back to the origin of the attack. It helps if you anticipate being attacked and have made the phone calls in advance.

They are sending an http request to an http server that is publicly offered to serve such requests. Presumably, they are sending the response to /dev/null.

I saw somethin glabout attacks like this on TechTV the other day.
It seems that the fed's are looking that this sort of attack already and beefing up the pipe when warned.
