Your question prompted me to post another thread.

Okay, but I hope this reply prompts you to answer my original question (which your new thread does not cover). When did that America exist?

A perfect America never existed. The days when men held doors for women and children unknown personally to us, spoke to us adults with respect is fading away.

The understanding of self responsibility is retreating fast. No one wants to accept the fact that they should be responsible for anything they do.

Full honesty isn't seen a requirement in personal or business relations. School administrators refuse to punish students who cheat on exams.

The America I grew up in held these and many of other attributes as necessary requirements to being considered a respected member of the community.

Today, money has precedence over these attributes. The more money one has, never minding if it was earned or stolen is considered the key to success.

The values I tried to instill in my children didn't have anything to with promoting vulgar dishonesty or personal irresponsibility.

Knowing the difference between a big lie and a small one are critical, ie. the vehicle is safe ...your hair looks nice.
Take the dollar sign down and bring back the decency in our society.
