One little point to anyone who may have influence on this story, though, is that any "child" carrying and shooting a gun is not exactly a child (re the young VC Kerry shot after he fired on our guys.)

I agree, but according to Kerry's report the "child" had suffered multiple .50BMG wounds.

I cannot imagine surviving a single .50BMG wound. It was never reported that the "child" was armed either.

Please correct me as I am working from memory.

I don't know the authoritative version, so I cannot correct you, but I do know that I've read multiple versions over the web, enough to create doubt in my mind as to the legitimacy of this charge. If I were one of those middle of the road undecided voters, the overall impression I have on the issue would be a problem for the Swift vets.
