Somehow I doubt that a Lt was replaced by anyone less than the unit commander....a Commander or LtCommander.
I've figured that it took about 3 years active duty to go to 03 (Lt) from 01 (JG). (To CPT from 2LT in army terms)
Does anyone know Kerry's various rank at any given year of his military service?
But flying cold war era National Guard air-defense with the constant potential to be deployed for short periods in Vietnam is evidently not comparable to this in terms of heroism.
Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.
Kerry's people have been making a big deal out of the fact that most of the Swiftboat veterans for truth didn't serve on the same boat as Kerry, thus would have no idea what Kerry did or did not do. The Vets claim they were on boats operating WITH Kerry's boat, therefore were frequent witnesses. Well, if not serving on the same boat makes you an unreliable witness, then Alston cannot be a good witness to Kerry's actions either.
Good one bump.
Notice how the men and standing close to each other and Kerry is off to the side as if not part of the group.
I heard the Rev. speak and say that he supports Kerry because he, Kerry, put his hand on his shoulder and asked if he was alright.
Poor guy, selling his soul so cheaply.
I have profound sympathy for those willing to be exploited for political gain.
Notice too that the man on the far left does not have his dogtags on.
Alston spoke at the convention. If this is true, it is big. I would also send to SBVFT.
bump
In the interest of keeping a consistent argument, the bolded portion of the above statement would negate almost every member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. It is undeniable that Kerry and Alston made misleading statements about serving on the same boat, which calls their credibility into question, but (in the interest of accuracy and consistency), they could have been involved in combat operations together while serving on different boats, since those boats worked in close support of one another.
The only possibility that Alston is in the photo with Kerry's regular crew, is that Alston was filling in for someone temporarily. If you look at the various rosters, for individual boats, you can see that some folks served on multiple boats.
Interesting info. I think we can assume everything about John Fraud Kerry is a lie. What a Lounge Lizard.
CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE BUMP:
Pat Buchanan had O'Neil on Scarborough Country last night for most of the program and they absolutely inviserated Kerry. Then a couple of RATliars came on and Pat destroyed them too. My hat is off to Pat for a change, he did a magnificent job. It was revealed that Kerry's Silver Star was awarded without the requisite three witnesses and was never certified. It was granted on the recommendation of his commander based only upon KERRY'S testimony. He has since said had he known what actually happened he would have never given the recommendation. Sick crap.
This account seems to confuse Alston with Michael J. Givens:

Kerry took over command of Alston's boat, PCF-94, after a battle in which the boat's previous lieutenant had been injured. Alston was also wounded in that fight, a clean gunshot through the arm.

29 JAN 1969 Cua Lon Rivers
Early in the morning seven swift boats embarked on a mission to destroy enemy installations along the Cua Lon River. While Kerry's boat and another (PCF72) were probing a canal along the river, Kerry's boat came under heavy fire and was hit by a B-40 rocket in the cabin area. One member of Kerry's crew -- Forward Gunner David Alston - suffered shrapnel wounds in his head. His injuries were not considered serious and he was sent to the 29th Evac Hospital at Binh Thuy.

27 FEB 1969 Bay Hap River
On an evening patrol with two other swiftboats, PCFs 23 and 43, about 26 miles south of Ca Mu, the patrol took heavy fire, including five rockets. Three rockets narrowly missed Kerry's boat, and exploded on the opposite bank. Another rocket exploded near PCF 94, and the fifth exploded near PCF 23, wounding a crewmember on that boat. The boats suppressed the fire and withdrew. During the battle, a sailor on Kerry's boat, Crewmember/Trainee Michael J. Givens was shot in the upper right arm. Givens injuries were not serious and he was sent to the 79th field hospital in Can Tho.
Nice work Bandito!
For your reading pleasure
Kerry is getting worse than Klintoon with his contortions.
<< Why did the Rev. David Alston put himself into this position of deception and lies? >>
Free lunch.
Free booze.
Free junketing.
And fifteen every-bit-as-unearned minutes.
As has been pointed out, this is keloid formation. It takes years to develop and can occur with quite minor injuries. It says nothing about the severity of the underlying injury. It is easily possible that this was a minor scalp wound and not visible a few weeks after it occurred.
Pray for W and Our Troops
Look carefully at your blow-up of the reverend and the two crew members on the left of the photo:
There is a "fuzzy" distortion around their head and shoulders - exactly as if the pixels between their head and the water were blended or mixed together.
Check a similar "blowup" at a similar magnification of Kerry's head - I'm willing to be you'll see a clean, sharp transition from his head to the water - since that part of thephoto would NOT have been edited.
And, why, oh why, does the shroud in the middle vanish halfway in the middle?
