My family comes from the border of northern india (punjab) and pakistan and migrated to pakistan in 1947 and than to the US in the 50s. Blue eyes does occur in my tribe which is known as Jats and sometimes among other Kysatria (warrior hindu castes descendants). My mother has red hair and blue eyes and approximately 50% of my maternal cousins have blue or green eyes at birth of which 25% change to hazel by adulthood and the remaining 25% have blue eyes into maturity. My father's side is generally more brunette with only 15% having blue eyes. My wife is also from my tribe from the pakistan side of punjab and generally has great difficulty tanning and burns like a european when she has sun exposure. Most people in the NYC area where we live mistake her for hungarian or russian whereas most people tend to think that i am greek. Our two daughters, who are twins, have blue-grey eyes but have my dark hair, but with blondish streaks like their mother, and generally can tan in the summer and lose their tan in the long NY winters. The Jats are descendants of so-called scythians that were an iranian tribe that once roamed the area north of the black sea to the aral sea in current kazakstan. They are generally beleived to have been an iranian people. The scythians invaded pakistan/india in 200bc to 200ad, almost 2000 years after the original aryan invasion. As far as I can tell, modern desendents of these iranian (or aryan) tribes in present day iran, pakistan or india tend to either lok mediterranean or eastern european, whereas the stereotypical nordic features are absent, even among iranian type people who may be blonde/blue eyed. In many respects these people could be more mistaken for semitic races, or Mediterranean, rather than the european stereotype of the nordic look.

To the north and west of punjab lie the northwest frontier and kashmir where the weather is colder and hence blondism and blue eyes are more common. In some norther areas the children in particular look european but most adults are brunettes even if they have blue eyes. The famous afghan refugee girl with clear green eyes is a common look. These people actually consider themselves to be bani israel (one of the lost tribes of israel). There is no genetic or historically evidence of that claim among some tribes.

Compared to most of the rest of the indian continent, however, punjabis, kashmiris and pathans are generally taller, more muscular, have sharp distinct rather than flat features and generally more lighter complexions. I guess the aryans as we know them india are much more iranian than scandinavian as you might know.

Despite an extremely harsh environment, second highest temperatures in the world after north africa, im not sure how blue eyes survived. My mother has great difficulty in being exposed to the desert sun and generally needs a hat.
