Vanity (Elections for News Anchors?)

Posted on 06/25/2004 7:06:38 AM PDT by Bluegrass Federalist

I was just reading a thread on the good things happening in Iraq, and a thought occured to me. I read that in 37 municipal elections in Iraq, hardline Islamists won between 1% and 3% of the vote, and former Baathists won no seats.

That led me to think about how the liberal media is always harping on about the people and democracy when it suits them, and ignoring it when it doesn't. A very ironic thought occured to me - how would the journalists like it if they had to be elected to their jobs? Can you imagine an election to see who would be the CBS Evening News Anchor?

Now, I'm not advocating this, because these are private enterprises (although a Rat would say they are the people's airwaves) and because the market has spoken as people vote with their remotes and watch Fox News. It just occured to me that it would be funny if these guys had to sit for election in front of the people in flyover country they hold in such contempt.
